Harry Kane MBE

But Lamela only played for 19 mins. Thought our attack improved greatly when he came on.

Lamela played for the FINAL 19 minutes.

Our attack also improves in the closing section of a game.

Not saying Lamela was an irrelevance just that it's a regular pattern of our game, and also inevitable with a game panning out like yesterday.

Thought Kane lacked the usual killer instinct in front of goal. In the first half he had a chance but his tame shot didn't trouble the Chelsea goalie. Remember that Kane had scored from a similiar position in that 5-3 win in the league. Then, he should have scored the one-on-one chance in the second half but was too slow to shoot and let Terry block his shot. Kane was clearly not his usual self in the Final. Maybe playing in his first Cup Final in front of so many people with so much expectations had affected him.
So you expect him to score every time he shoots? Okay then.

Maybe Strikers do not always hit the ball sweetly and maybe Terry made a world class block?

I despise John Terry as a person, but one must admit he is (despite his age and slow pace) one of the best CB-s and leaders around. Kane was obviously knackered as he was being marked out of the game and he had to put in a double shift to get out of the lock. Now, when we consider the experience and skill he was facing in his first final, it's pretty understandable he didn't score there. It's football, it happens.

Personally I hate international football, but can understand a players desire to play for his country. Thinking about when watching England play over the last so many years I can think of one thing, how much I would have loved Alan Shearer to be a Tottenham player, there is something special about having the England striker play for your team, it brings back memories of his partnership with Sheringham, one felt pride because everyone would be cheering our player.. until he went to Utd, I had the same feeling when we got Lineker, infact I will never forget the feeling I had when we signed the 1986 world cup golden boot winner and England's undoubted #1 and when he represented England in Italia 90.. he was also representing our team. I felt immense pride that he was a Yid.
You can go back in history remembering yesterday's names but now we have a striker that could take on that mantel. A young 21 year old that is ours, one that wants to be here for life.. akin to Shearer.

So I say support the lad, support him should he be picked this summer for the U-21s, don't moan or grumble about it, support him when he makes his full debut, because when he scores that goal for England, pride will take over, the same way as I remember 26 years ago when we signed Gary fcuking Lineker, but this time it will be Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer rolled up into one.. that fact that he scores goals for fun and he is one of our own.

Chelsea's entire game plan revolved around cutting off our supply to him. It's a measure of how far he has come. Even at that, on the few occassions where he did get the ball down and get a run at them, he caused problems, it just didn't happen often enough as Chelsea were very well drilled and basically tactically brilliant in terms of playing out the game plan mourinho wanted them to play.

This, he was also fouled a bit more (and the ref was fudging terrible).

this is the stuff he needs to learn from ..

Bravo sir, I've only just seen this but it is a most excellent post!

Not exactly complementary but then, hands on heart, how way off the mark is he?

Chris Ramsey said:
the policy of granting opportunities to younger players was kick-started by Sherwood over his five‑month tenure last season. Back then, the manager and Ramsey were berated by supporters for blooding Kane instead of persevering with Roberto Soldado, a £26m signing who apparently needed time to settle. “The fans weren’t having Harry,” Ramsey said. “They were trying to get the galácticos on the pitch but we stuck to our guns and got a lot of flak for it. I have a lot of friends who are Tottenham fans and I used to tell them about the players coming through. I’d say: ‘Ryan Mason is probably the best footballer at the whole club’, and they were like, ‘Nah, we need this person from this country, or that person from that country’.

Agreed. Whilst I scarcely give a fudge about the national team nowadays, it is nice to see some Spurs lads playing in the major tournaments and being cheered on by every Englishman no matter what their club allegiance.

It was partly due to Tottenham' England stars (Waddle, Lineker and Gazza) that I ended up a Lilywhite and hopefully Kane (plus maybe Dier, Rose and Mason in years to come) can become a leading light for his country to help ensure that Tottenham remain one of the best supported teams in the land.

that second goal of Kane today shows that if he had started against Fiorentina away he would have buried that Soldado clean through on goal chance. Such a shame Poch decided not to start him in both EL games, im sure we would still be in the comp

He's going to get 30 goals isn't he... unbelievable... 30 goals and top goal scorer in the league would be nice firing us to 3rd place

Easy as you like. He does the straight forward things well. As opposed to Soldado who fuks up the easy ones. Looked tired but got a brace. What a guy...

So, he can smash it in from 30 yards, head it, power it in from inside the box, tap it in, place it and now dribble round the goalkeeper.

Is there anything this boy can't do?
