Harry Kane MBE

IF the manager wants them and they want to play here. I don't want cast-offs.
The two quoted are far from cast offs.

LaPorte is someone we'd 100% want, and someone we'd imagine would never be possible to sign. Plus you can the sell Sanchez and add that onto the received fee for Kane.

Let's ignore the Carling Cup final bit. Not even the chairman cares about that competition as evidenced by his actions this season.

We were reasonably involved in one title race only (we were never involved in the title race when we finished second to Chelsea) and we also got to a Champions League final which was incredible. However both of those happened under a fantastic coach who wasn't adequately backed if we wanted to take the next step. That was all quite a long time ago now as well....

Consider our team from back then and now.... Significantly weaker at right back, centre back, left back, central midfield, offensive midfield. The only two positions where we have stayed competitive with our competition is in goal and up front.

I don't think Kane would restrict himself to joining Emirates Marketing Project only. I think he would also be prepared to join Chelsea or Man Utd, probably even Liverpool, its just that Emirates Marketing Project seem to be the club who are most interested in him. Kane stayed with us while we were still in the Champions League, he also stayed for a further season when we failed to reach it (though he did ask to leave). Kane is an elite level player and elite level players want to be playing in the biggest competitions and fighting for the biggest trophies. Bale, Modric and Berbatov all came to the same conclusion as Harry Kane.... that they need to leave for a better club if they want to win the big trophies.

Just seems like we are in a rut of this. It will not change anytime soon until we are genuinely chasing for titles and not just crossing our fingers and toes hoping that things may work out.

I won't go to work tomorrow. I'm gonna stay at home, until my employer gets me a better and higher paid position.
That'll show them!

Are you getting head hunted? And are you actually wanted at your employment? Let us know how it goes for you :)

£130M is still £30M away from anything that City have reportedly put forward.

£130M cash +bonuses might fly, but see my first line, city is no where near that right now.

Nah, Kane has really tinkled off Levy, Daniel will not want to look weak in front of the footballing world. Bale flew to Spain and gave up on us but it costs Real Madrid a record feel I believe. I see no reality whereby Levy accepts less than £150

Not really, as is also the case with Harry. I'll stick with the same strategy as him. Surely, if I just stay at home long enough, they'll cave in and give me what I want!

A had an idea for a while that harry was a bit of a phil Mickelson figure, great public face, bit of a prat behind closed doors.
Just making seem more likely.

Modrics gentlemans agreement was honoured. We sold him to madrid. Harry's will be honoured if a club matches our asking price. We won't sell him for less.

If someone says to you i'm interested in buying your house. You tell them that kids are still in school but when they finish you get first offer. Then they offer you less than market value. You saying no is not reneging on the deal or breaking a gentlemans agreement. It's you not getting mugged off.
It was one season before that Modric felt the agreement wasn't honoured when he thought he would be allowed to join Chelsea.

City could, of course, be playing a very canny game. They could have every intention of offering £150 million; and Kane might know this. In the meantime they let tensions simmer up nicely at Spurs, reduce the time we have to find a replacement striker, try their hand with lower offers, and make the start to our season a very difficult one.
Very canny....until 31st August passes with no sale

Harry Redknapp: “He [Kane] just feels I think now that it’s time to move but he’s got to go about it in the right way. His agents have got to sit down with Daniel [Levy] and try to [sort it out]. At the end of the day, unless Daniel gets the money that he wants, it isn’t going to happen. If he wants £150million and someone is offering £130million-£140million, it’s not going to get him. Daniel won’t budge.

The point remains the same, we gave him opportunities, it's not like he's been playing for fudging Aston Villa for the last 10 years.

He can go wherever the fudge he wants IF (a big fudging IF) someone wants to buy him, United could buy him, they are accustomed to being fudging fleeced by everyone, why haven't they, why do they prefer to pay idiot wages to Cavani? PSG could/probably would buy him (but Harry doesn't want to leave UK), Chelsea are likely going to buy fudging Lukaku before him.

This is what happens when you overvalue yourself, mistime your career choices and have idiots for advisors.

Kane was obviously told by City very early (see Neville interview) £100M, his immediate response should have been "that won't get the deal done, that doesn't show you really want me". His agent should have got a verbal at least from City that there was more on the table, they also should have shopped around to have other options (United, Chelsea, PSG, whoever), instead he's pigeon holed himself with the public (I'm not leaving UK) statements and left it where City is using him as a stooge

I'd tend to agree

Given how things are shaping up, that is probably better for them than for us. Given their embarrassment of riches they’ll continue to do very well; we’re left with a player who doesn’t want to be with us.

Kane wants to play every fudging game and he wants to score and break Shearer's record.

If he stays past the window, we will have no problem with him, next summer will be a repeat brickshow but the season will be fine.

Harry will be probably doubling his money going to City ... he should give Spurs an IOU and they will pay £10-20Million back garnishing his weekly pay packet ... with interest ofcourse, makes everyone happy and Harry can get his taste for buying trophies.

The difference is they are looking to sell him, we're not looking to sell Kane. If there are no other takers, Laporte could be a makeweight. Idk who we sign in attack though. That is the issue.

Look at it this way...if the Spanish clubs get their finances in order, competition to sign Kane next summer could be intense. There isn't another player like him available. With a few clubs competing for his signature, his price would be world-record fee, and so it should. Probably not 200m but not far short. Of course covid and current realities mean that is not happening now. But it could in a year's time. So...110m + bonuses up to 50m and Laporte is showing great creativity to make a deal happen. Are City willing to show that commitment? We have next summer and a better financial environment if not. Who's side are you on here?
I know that people want to hope that we can get the best deal possible and I also share that hope. I just think that its worth having an element of realism. I think the very, very best that we can hope for is a £160m package and if Levy manages to extract that then he has done a remarkable job (just as long as he doesn't do it in the very last knockings of the window or if he allows the money to be spent in advance if planning to do that). Even £110m (including bonuses) and Laporte would be a good deal. If we're setting an unrealistic expectation of a £200m deal then we are going to be disappointed. Unfortunately we do not have several clubs involved in an auction for Kane and appear to have immediately ruled out selling Kane to one of the clubs who might get involved in an auction (Chelsea).
