Harry Kane MBE

I should say though - I'm sure if Harry Kane was left all to himself, he'd stay with us. But there's probably a massive pressure from agents, the media, people in his entourage etc etc for him to move, because they will make money from it. Football is a cynical sport with a lot of cash and people wanting to leech off of one another. If you get that in your ear day in day out for years, I guess it creeps in eventually. It's a point worth making.
Sorry but not buying that. Firstly he’s a grown man capable of doing what he wants, plenty of club legends haven’t gone to bigger clubs because they are happy where they are. Also his brother is his agent, he will only be looking to do what Kane wants. If Kane wants to go it’s for footballing reasons, let’s not pretend other wise....

Matt Le Tissier could have gone anywhere and he didnt win anything and I still think gerrard and totti would have stayed even if pool and roma won nothing

The fact that as a fan he can consider putting on the shirt of another English club is what I can't fathom.

dont get this. he has won nothing in his career and is the best striker in the league. he derserves to look back at the end and have something to show for it.

if we bothered to deliver it for him, with good management and signings from the board, he wouldn't be leaving simple.

instead, he keeps scoring and watching Eric Dier play CB...

I think Harry grew up loving spurs, imagine his heartbreak knowing dier is in the team .... ffs we as fans feel it .... GHod knows how much it pains him to see some of the players that he lumped with.

In theory him staying is good.
But, when he leaves we would then be left with a huge striker shaped hole and no cash to replace him.
Risk either way, but these are the types of problems a big club needs to get used to.
We would sign someone then
It’s normal
Players come and go
But a player who has cost you nothing to buy and is world class is a rare beast

If he stayed for the next 2-3 years I think we would likely be in a better financial position by then(it’s not as if we haven’t spent money anyway) and the likes of Scarlett would be much more developed.

Either way I don’t want Kane to leave,

the thought of him in another teams shirt makes me want to vomit. But I wish him all the best if he does....

That is a good point that if we get back to full stadiums, NFL etc. then in 2-3 years we might have the money to replace him anyway.
Kane prob increases the chance of CL qualification too.

Prob sways me that the money is less important.

I still don't understand Levy's role in this all.

Last summer, 4 years left on his contract.
Sure if you stay this season you can go next summer.
No one in football had money last summer/
The top transfer last summer was 72m. The season before it was 114m.

I assume Levy will stick to the same agreements he gave Modric and Bale.
I'm sure to Levy his word is more important than the club.

Come on, I know we all want it to be true but he didn't grow up supporting us. There is no scenario under which I'd be caught dead wearing a Woolwich shirt outside our ground on the day they won the league there. Even as a kid.

what if you were trying to bring the system down from within?

a sort of frozen horse

Its hard to say really as whilst I loved football as a young kid and I think I was loosely affiliated to spurs from around 12 years old, I didn't really properly fall in love and support them until I went to my first game when I was around 15 which was a 1-1 draw with arsenal at WHL where Vieria scored in the last minute. Being in amongst a stand of people going mental when Rebrov made it 1-0 was the moment I caught the bug - a fateful night indeed.

And back to the point I vaguely remember wearing fake chelsea (how we had one of these when they were utter brick back then I’ll never know) and united shirts when I was around 10 playing football in the park. If I had a goon mate aged 10 could I end up going to an event like that? I would have thought so given where I was mentally in respect of football aged 10.

So who knows maybe he joined the club and later fell in love in not to dissimilar ways we all have. Its not always dad throws a spurs shirt on you aged 1 and your set. It certainly wasnt like that for me.

I can't really blame him for wanting to leave (if it's true), he's given us years of good service and in return he's got no team trophies and a chairman who on balance does pretty well but is far too cautious when it comes to it. We can point to players we've signed but it's about signing them at the key times e.g. the ridiculous Saha, Nelson window then the no signing window and wanting total control over everything. It's clear he focused so much on the stadium that glaring issues in the scouting and transfer business was overlooked and still is.

Thought similar myself. Pundits have been trying to sell him for years, to the stage where I don't ever have the sound on.

Your dad obviously liked you.

My boy hasn’t been out of a Spurs shirt for as long as he can remember. We bond over the shared misery.
