General Transfer Rumour Discussion Thread

So a "star" player can not be part of the team? Ridiculous comment
It's not ridiculous IMO . He is a young manager who in short career has not really managed a truly world class player off top shelf . The fact that levy said we will be signing only players on the 10 m means no big names will be coming .. It's always about team ethos and team ethic with poch which I totally totally agree with ... It's why adebayor n the likes of Townsend are out and barely get games .. They play for themselves and it shows on pitch .. I expect no big big names at Spurs unless totally gifted one this summer

Having read this nice piece regarding the clubs flirtation across the pond, it got me thinking who, which player could we sign, and I always come back to the same player. Currently at Toronto. Michael Bradley, he wears #4 for both club and country and spectacular in his first season at Roma before his injury. His goal yesterday for the national team epitomises everything we need from a midfielder. For me he has those never stop attitudes, always biting at opponents ankles never giving them time.. there is a Roy Keane about him.

It would also continue our flirtatious ways with the USA, what better way than to bring in there national captain. He is currently on around 65k, but wonders would he take up the challenge of the Premier League on the same money.

If you own the property it's doable... Me and the Mrs would struggle on that, thankfully we have two incomes. A single person probably could though.
What's the after tax on that, about £2500 a month?

Rent on a 1 bed flat in a nice bit of London has to be £13-1500. I assume Spurs don't provide company cars - personal hire has to be another £350, fvck knows what an 18yo footballer pays in insurance.

I suspect that money would be long gone before you even think about food, clothing, going out, etc.

Hopefully the lad has a couple of sponsorships sorted out.

I would imagine 4 or 5 of the youth players would share keeping that rent down to the 500 range, a bit like going to Uni. Then again I would have bought the place and got the others to pay the rent/mortgage.

1) He's likely living at home still.
2) He's 17 so he's not gonna be splashing out on anything substantial. No stupid fast cars, no nights out on the town buying drinks for all his mates, no gambling it away in casino's.
3) As someone said he's an Enfield lad so he's already near enough to the training centre.

Anyways on to a seperate subject. Clasie looks set to sign for Southampton for a heck of a lot less than someone like McCarthy (reported in the Metro that Southampton are paying £8 million). I'm quite gutted that we haven't shown an interest in him.

It's possible that, even if we had shown an interest, this is one player who genuinely might have chosen Southampton over Spurs anyway - simply because of the Koeman / Feyenoord connection.

Good GHod no. We've barely finished clearing out our midfield dead wood and you want buy a Toronto based MLS 'star'?!

I've send him display worse passing accuracy than Paulinho. In the MLS.

I read somewhere that he did not want to leave London the other day

he has spent a lot of his career outside of London, and tbh if he had to move because no other London club came in for him, then Birmingham is not too far away
