Any Spurs fan would be stupid to begrudge him a move to Real Madrid, but I don't think anyone is doing that. They are upset with how he has conducted himself over the summer.

Missing a game thorough a buttock injury? Really?
Having his agent feed stories to the media.
Refuse to train with the rest of the squad.

Also, isn't it hard to wish him the best considering the club he is going to and how they have behaved towards us this summer and in the past? If he plays well for Madrid, it increases their chance of succes and I for one don't want them to win anything this season anytime in the foreseeable future.

It was pretty obvious our game plan last season was to create time and space for Bale to have a shot.

Maybe, but Bale wouldn't have had to keep bailing us out excuse the pun if the strikers had done their jobs and scored more goals. I'm old fashioned, I want my strikers to offer goals. I didn't see Ade create goals for either.

I remember the West Ham game when he got tackled and Bale picked up the ball and scored to make it 1-0. Onlyme gave him an "assist" even though the defender touched the ball to Bale and he even argued Adebayor played well despite missing two sitters :lol:

I think last season was a master class from AVB in how to get the most from what you've got. For us that meant Bale to "rescue us". Bale was our main forward, not a creator. He didn't play in the striker's position, but that wouldn't have worked.

How about the way Solado behaved when leaving Valenica? The same is true to a lesser extent of Lamela and Eriksen.

It's just the way of things in business - and the football transfers are just business transactions.

It's obviously been in our interests to drag it out and get the best deal, with the best terms and to bring players in to soften the blow.

That is not Bale's fault. There is no purpose in him training with the team any more. His association with Tottenham Hotspur has, in reality, already ended. It is just a question of tying up loose ends.

He has not crossed the line as far as I'm concerned. He hasn't made any disparaging comments and he isn't going to a direct rival of ours.

When your girlfriend's always complaining of a headache, it's best to take the hint and move on

Hate? No. Disappointed with how he has behaved yes. Sad to see someone go who refuses to train? Sorry but no again. For me he's ruined the goodwill that he built up with the fans. As for Adebayor? Again I don't hate him but I'm not blind to the fact that he was poor last season. You are literally the only person on here that reckons he was decent last season.

You have a personal dislike for both players and manage to bring the worst things up about them in every discussion.

Good post, that's how I see it too. Missing a couple of days training and having his brain fried by all the hype is not enough to warrant some of the harsh comments he's getting.

I think it was better off for the club that he and his sideshow haven't pointlessly turned up for training.

I too ,as someone said earlier, hope we draw Real in the Champion's League in a few years. But I wanna see Bale run out at the Lane to cheers and applause and recognition that his transfer paid for almost half a team that brought us success.

1. In all likelihood, Bale has been training in isolation at least initially because of his injury, however slight, or lack of match fitness.

2. Once it was clear that he was leaving, it was of no benefit to the team to have him training with the team due to risk of injury jeopardising the deal, because he would disrupt teamplay/systems training, and the whole circus surrounding him would disrupt team spirit/morale at a time when we are trying to integrate a large number of new signings straight into the first team. Even if he trained, it is likely contact with the team would be minimised anyway for these reasons.

I don't see how Spurs would benefit from Bale training with the team if he is about to leave, therefore I have no problem with him staying away while he is waiting for his big money move to be sorted out.

Finally, there is no concrete evidence that he has been forcing a move, it is simply that we had a price that we were willing to sell at and Madrid have met it, albeit not without the usual Marca/AS hysterics. Let's be honest, for £80m plus, they are paying a huge premium because he is a player we didn't really want to sell and for potential that he may or may not go on to fulfill.

I don't resent Bale's actions in the least - he has kept his counsel and not ****ged anyone off or disrupted our preparations, the move is mutually beneficial and I hope he goes on to prove himself as the best in the world while his team continues to play second fiddle in Spain to Barca

He scored 5 goals in 24 league games. A ratio of 1 in 5 for a top 5 calibre club is in no way "decent". Even when he wasn't scoring you always maintained he was playing well. Only a macaron would come to the conclusion that he had a good season. At least Jordinho offers some rationale to his arguments, even if I don't agree with it.

Nah. It's currently 1,571,170. I'd be surprised if it reaches 1,600,000 before he's gone. As soon as Lamela is announced, Bale will be off (I suspect).

That clown called GB a "jinx" and wanted him loaned to a Championship side at one time and I believe around about then Southampton came to us about the sell on clause.

I'm pretty sure that we approached SCBC and offered to 'help' them in their dire financial situation.

I'm sure I remember reading at the time that we told them we'd give them a couple of £M of our outstanding payments in return for them dropping the rest of the fee and any subsequent payments.

Something dawned on me yesterday when discussing the Bale move with some friends: Daniel Levy is the most important man in world football at the moment. Until he decides to sanction the Bale transfer, then no other teams can start moving for Madrid players that are up for sale, as the domino effect talked of in the press waits to happen.

Imagine he left it until 5 to the hour on deadline day to sell, and Arsenal and Man Utd (both linked heavily with Di Maria and Ozil respectivley) didn't have time to sign either of those players and were left short, at least until January. We would have recouped the money we have spent undeniably improving the squad, whilst two rivals in the league have failed to strengthen because of his tactics. Would be ideal

He'll leave it as late as possible of that we can count on, I could see him letting the registration window close for this weekends game at very least.
