Re: Gareth Bale
I think we will be able to hold on to Bale for another season.
By then, we'd have to be serious title contenders and CL qualified if we want to keep him longer, IMO.
If there's a time we should really push on, this summer will be it. (it should have been this January, but that's a different story) We have a world class keeper in Lloris, there's Sandro who will hopefully recover 100% from his injury, and then there's Bale, who will be immense next season. Add Vertonghen/Kaboul and a top, top striker, and there's a great spine for a team - plus we have quality players all over the pitch in Lennon, Dembele, Vertonghen, Holtby, Dawson, BAE, etc.
It really boils down to improving our strikeforce first and foremost.
Hi guys, Not ITK.
My wife is from Cardiff. We go there every summer, to see family etc.
I have had a chance to meet with some of Bale's childhood friends.
They are still his friends and they get together regularly.
I have been told:
- he is a very family oriented guy, and would not like to go abroad.
- He is not like the "normal" megastars of football. Not a party animal, chasing WAGS, getting drunk etc.
- he has just had a child, and they think that makes it even more likely that he will stay in the UK.
- He loves being at Spurs and would like to stay here.
- He is not greedy about money, and is happy with what he is earning
- His parents have a lot of respect for Levy, and they get on very well.
Having said the above, I am sure he wants to win things
- If we / Levy are serious, we will NEED to do something in the summer.
- As Robbo says, We will have to get the missing links in our team to be title contenders.
- If we do that, I am sure he will stay - more than one more season
- If he does leave, it would be for a UK club
My 2 cents worth.
