Still want to do the drive down the Pacific coast highway and will have to do it before my health completely leaves me.

I hope your pool is heated, last time I was in Red Sea area pool was like an ice bath, should have realised as it was empty.

Have a great time in Egypt, i have been lucky enough to have worked/lived in a lot of countries but never been there.

Swimming on the reefs with a snorkel and face mask is well worth it. Or even book a little trip with an independent dive center. No need to scuba dive, just a face mask and snorkel is awesome. A whole other world.

A decent beach bar called Terrazzina, can chill by the beach swim, eat have some beers. Havn't been for some time, but used to be reasonably priced, cheaper than hotels.

Could go up Mount Sini. You can sleep up there for the full religious experience

If you need to haggle - if you get a taxi, negotiate a price for a dive trip or just walk around the old town and want to buy something - use that phrase Boccra Fill Mish Mish when you reach stalemate. It means tomorrow I am picking apricots. Bocra - tomorrow. Mishmish - apricots. They will laugh and think you're working in Egypt or something. You might get a better price, or at least a smile
