Gutter Boy
Tim Sherwood
Apparently part of the reason he was keen to come to us was because his family had settled in London during the 4 years he spent here as England Assistant Manager?
Said he was a mug 18 months ago. Was obvious to anyone with even just one brain cell. Worse thing to happen to this club and I hope an end to the director of football thing but I said that after commoli. So I shall not hold my breath.
To all the people who inferred that people like me were closed minds or Neanderthals for disliking him and the director of football system. TOLD YOU SO TOLD YOU SO(doing a little told you so dance)

You are if you think one or two bad appointments means an entire system is flawed
Whether they were bad is highly debatable. Even if some signings don't work out, it's not like manager's have a better track record. Comolli had more say in terms of signings than I think Baldini does and the squad Redknapp inherited was actually pretty good.

Comolli in hindsight did a very good job. The managerial appointment of Ramos was the fuc*-up.
His signings have all largely proven themselves as decent to exceptional players, even players like Kevin-Prince Boateng went on to prove their quality elsewhere. Modric and Bale, meanwhile catapulted the quality of our squad to unheard of levels and made the club almost £90 million profit.
Crystal Meth is pretty good, I mean people keep going back for more dont theyWe'll never know exactly how good the DoF has been. Levy should have a better idea though, and he keeps coming back for more. So there must be something in it. Ultimately, we are not just a club focused on football played on the pitch but on trading. Trading players, and for that you need a specialist to focus on finding value (or potential value).
actually i'm dying to read a Dof's view of a club's running on and off the pitch, and the differences between what happens in england and abroad. i'd buy it if baldini writes it.has a DoF ever released a book
Head in sand time again hey boys.
I remember you guys telling me that with our new director of football would mean that if we changed coaches we would not need a whole lot of new players because the director of football would get the right players to suit the system the coach wants......HOWS THAT WORKING FOR YER LADS.
You can try and use pseudo intellect and all the other clap trap people of your ilk want to use. Facts is facts, it does not work not here not in Europe. Sure teams in Europe have a director of football and some are a success but the teams over there that are a success are because of either finances or good coaches. Not because of the director of football, and european clubs have even a higher turnover in head coaches then England.
You can chat rubbish all you want, we are a democracy and I like that. I would encourage to keep the debate going as I am a strong advocate of democracy. But as someone who can smell and see hogwash I wont be responding to you or the other poor deluded saps as I do not feel the need to blind myself from the truth or sound logical reasoning(if I did I would be religious).
Seen many a snake oil salesman in my time, in football they come wearing Italian suits and crap haircuts.
Much Love, Kind regards, Benjamin.
Man United Arsenal Chelsea City Southampton Liverpool all have DoFs in one guise or another - plus several other clubs throughout the league
Giving one man too much power is a bad thing, you say? Well you might want to have a rethink because that's exactly why the DoF type setup is a good thing - you're aren't letting one person have control over everything like you would in a traditional set up, i can't believe you can even use this as a complaint and keep straight face - i think it's time to stop using something you don't understand and are sared of as a spacegoat Ben, get with the times old man
Depends how good looking they were really.I don't think it's overly about power, more about specialism.
A coach does coaching. A DoF does human resources.
The skills set required is just so different.
You wouldn't double up the kit man with marketing, or the tea lady with finance would you?!

Our director of footballs have been given power by Levy and gone and signed a load of crud players. Other clubs listen to their coaches and take advice from analysts. But our chairman keeps falling for charlatans.
Baldini was a wrongun and anyone could see that after a month.
Boatang and quality should never be used in the same sentence.
Depends what you think a good job entails, I think leaving such a unbalanced side that the was a very real danger of getting relegated till a wheeler dealer came in is not a good job but a fu*king atrocious job. So what was he a youth scout a guy who could say "hey he will be a decent player in 4 years time" or was he the guy the chairman of a multi million pound business put in charge or procurement to keep said business at the top level who then so spectacularly screwed up we had what was it 2 points from 8 games.
Football is not simple and straight forward and I am glad we have this Mitchell chap to help analyse targets so we are more careful when we sign players. But when you give one person and they are always a certain type of person so much power it goes to their head. Anyone who is so deluded as to think that any of our director of football have been good appointments is someone I can not continue to communicate with.
I am sure if Levy sticks around we will go through it all over again.
I am out of the discussion fellas, enjoy yourself's.
Kind Regards, Benjamin.
