For gardener's, this is pretty cool

Didn't know we had a gardening thread!

We moved into a new house a couple of months ago, It's on a pretty big plot of land and we decided to lay grass seed everywhere outside (At the back and all around the house) as we haven't decided what to do with the driveway out front and patio out back yet etc.

Has anyone here laid down fresh grass seed from scratch before? It's f**king taken over my life for the last 6 weeks!!!
....Watering it like crazy early on to keep it moist (Cos the middle of summer was not the best time to do it obviously!), Got some decent grass early on, then a load of weeds, started mowing it now, just bought some fertilizer, reseeded the dodgy areas, trying not to walk on it, it's never ending!

Should have just bought turf!!

Not a fan of lawns. Lifeless monocultures. Let it go wild for the critters.

I've pretty much given up on the lawn. Half of it is just moss now. Don't really care, as it's green, and soft to walk on. Lots of clover too, and when I mow, I go around the clover flowers to help the bees and bumblebees. Just outside my lawn, there's a steep bank a couple of meters down to the road that was full of various weeds and stuff you don't want. I moved it down and covered it in black plastic for 2 years to kill it all, then I sow various wild flower seeds there. Looks really nice now.

I just mow paths in the garden and strips next to hedges. Planted a few fruit trees.
Have some interesting wild plants coming up - teasels and fox &cubs etc etc. lots of moths and butterflies - only started this a couple of years ago so hoping for orchids eventually.

I keep it low maintenance, there are a couple of flower beds and the roses in front garden and one raised bed for beans and courgettes.

Better to plant up into different zones. Also have a proper greenhouse and a log cabin.
