Facebook now called Meta

What is it with these logo designs, Slack went for penises and FB have gone for boobs.

Of course this will make all of their problems go away.

if you’re seeing boobs in that logo, you’d be better advised to seek help

That’s really interesting. I don’t do Facebook but I’m going to have a long think about that direction of travel of that.

It seems like an understandable progression in many ways- but it’s also way way out there. It wasn't that long ago we all failed to engage with a helpful paper clip fellow.
 
I’ve had a think about it. The Meta rebrand is just a re-org and the name of the parent company right so whatever. Like alphabet is to google, who cares.

But investing in virtual reality and augmented reality is a good thing and They have got to diversify before their core business which must be fully saturated - and potentially on a downward slide, gets any staler.

But the metaverse wants to be built, and Facebook might as well be the sponsor for it as their bill for enclosing and commercialising a big part of the internet.

So yeah good for them I reckon in 25 years when I’m 75 I’ll be using a lot of tech that doesn’t exist now to help me live a rewarding life.

I had a real problem working out why anyone would want AR until I saw a video sponsored by Google Lens of a guy working on his car with all the parts labelled up as he looked at them. Even have the torque setting and sizes for each bolt.

Thought that was pretty clever.
