So is this a Board level appointment?
Regardless, another degree of separation between Levy and footballing matters.

Edit : Yes, Board level.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Scott Munn as Chief Football Officer. Scott will be joining the Club’s Board and will take charge of all footballing departments.

As referenced in the Chairman’s statement (Financial Results 2021/22 - 10 February 2023) there has been an ongoing review over the past six months of all of our footballing activities. Changes have been made and further improvements continue to ensure future progress and competitiveness.

Scott, former City Football Group Executive, has extensive experience within sporting organisations having started his career with the Sydney Organising Committee for the 2000 Olympic Games and then transitioning into the National Rugby League, before joining the Australia Football League. Scott joined Melbourne City FC as Chief Executive Officer in 2010. In 2019 he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of City Football Group China.

Daniel Levy, Chairman: “Scott has a unique and broad experience of running sporting organisations at the highest level and will take responsibility for the leadership and management of our football activities to instil best practice both on and off the pitch.”

But it will still mean level is in charge of why failed move for a player as that’s the rules

Hopefully the first of 2 Australians to join.

Edit: there's some general bemusement that Scott Munn has landed this gig.

Was thinking that as well, is this in preparation for the new aussie manager.

I think it's a bit of a strech, but Scott was City Football Group and Ange Postecoglu was at Yokohama F Marinos, also CFG. Definitely increases the chances than if it was just Levy and Paratici hiring.

not sure why this hasn't got its own thread, but I'd encourage any changes which move those involved in day to day financial running of the club away from the footballing side of things. There needs to be people sat in finance looking after the cash and then the footballing side making its case annually for the investment needed in the playing staff - you shouldn't have one person/group responsible for both - it will always mean we err on the side of finance. Hence Lenglet not Bastoni....

Here we go again. The Bastoni who didn’t want to leave Italy?

But there are other people employed to do that role
So I’d argue he isn’t
Our fans think that if it’s going well it’s the coach
And if it’s bad it’s the chairman
Its that binary

That may be your opinion of people but it doesn't make it true or factual.

In any company inside out outside of football, the one who sits at top ultimately makes decisions and structures his staff to follow his/ her plan. End of.

The budget will be the budget....the football side, unless they have a REALLY compelling reason, aren't going to eek more money out of the finance side.

I'm sure the plan is to develop the football side so it simply does things better. More bang for it's buck.
