So there's Gent and Genk still in the competition?
You EXPECT us to WIN THE EL??
Or do you mean you EXPECT us to give it a good go?
Well it would be silly to say i expect us to win it, but there is no EXCUSE not to go out and name teams so we can TRY and win it.
Yeah but the club could just decide to move it to Sunday anyway like they did for Burnley (H).
Well i think you DID say you expect us to win it, hence my question; agreed that we should try and win it (but i do understand there may be a time when fixture, injuries, etc might make us de-prioritise the competition..)
Well that's a first getting what I preferred!Anyone except the Russian or Spanish sides. Spanish teams have an outstanding record in European games. Gent or Legia would be my preferred opponents.
Well you read it wrong.
Good draw and with some of the other clubs who are in with a chance of winning this playing each other we have no excuses not to go and win this. Please Poch lets do it.
Sorry to be pedantic, but where did i read you wrong?
How about too many games close to each other, saving players for the Saturday game, too far to travel, playing games on a Thursday/Sunday, its a mickey mouse tournament ( which we are to good to be in, in some fans eyes), finishing among the losers ( top four)is more important then actually winning something, and all the other hogwash reasons that are thrown up about this cup.
And Celta Vigo - Shaktar and Anderlecht - ZenitLittle underrated benefit of the draw is Fiorentina v Monchengladbach and Roma v Villareal. That guarantees that two of the better sides left in the competition will be killed off in the first round.

Indeed, and one of the reasons i posted earlier there are no excuses not to go out and TRY and win this by name sides strong enough to do so.
As someone posted earlier, we have no game after the first leg so play a strong side there and try and kill the tie, after the return leg we play Stoke at home which wont be easy.
Well if we get a good result in the first leg we can do that, otherwise we should play our strongest side in the return, then let Stoke take care of its self once we have done so. Lets really try and win something for a change.

Not yet, but get past Villa and another decent draw and we might have though

I don't think we need to mug either off at the expense of the other at all yet.Probably means the FA Cup will get mugged off at the expense of the EL.
