group stages should be fun
Having watched the game last night I was pleased with the club that eventually progressed to the next round.
This is a competition that we should have a chance of winning next season, so it's better for us when the weaker teams progress in the competition.
3 red cards in 5 Europa matches for the Fair Play League winners.

Slaven Bilic claims those responsible for Croatian Swastika controversy are 'not racist'
West Ham United manager Slaven Bilić has become embroiled in controversy after claiming those responsible for painting a Swastika on a Croatian football pitch were 'not racist'.
The symbol, which has been associated with Nazi Germany since World War II, appeared before Croatia's Euro 2016 qualifier against Italy and resulted in the country being docked one point and being ordered to play two matches behind closed doors.
Uefa branded the occurrence as 'racist behaviour' while Davor Suker, the Croatian Football Federation (CFF) president and ex-Hammers striker, moved swiftly to condemn the vandalism.
Bilić insists the culprits were not racists, however, and instead suggested they were attention seekers looking to capitalise on the social media generation.
"I do not think that [those responsible] are racist," the former Croatia boss said.
"They are doing it just for the sake of doing it. Because, nowadays, with this media, if you do something you are on YouTube all over the world, and you find yourself a hero for that group of people.
"Some people wrote that [Croatia] are racist, but of course we are not racist. We are everything but racist. And you cannot say that Croatian fans are racist. I do not know how many of them are- maybe ten, or one hundred- but it is no more than that who are doing these things."

That's because it's a cup competition. The very nature of the format means that underdogs have a far better chance than in a league situation. We say that every season yet still havent even got to the semi finals.

There's also the "Ade factor" - that bit where our players say "Europa? **** that, I'm injured". Add to that the fact that every single player for FC Pigfarmer will be playing out of their skins because playing Spurs is a once (twice if there's two legs!) in a lifetime opportunity and it becomes quite unlikely that even a massively superior team like ours will win it.
Getting knocked out by a side in a cup doesn't make you less good than that other team, otherwise we'd be claiming that a load of non-league sides are better than PL sides because of the odd League Cup win.but we are not massively superior to Fiorentina who beat us last season, or Benfica the season before, or Sevilla who have won the competition two years in a row.
yes the PL is awash with more money and our players are paid more, but they are clubs as big as us and yet they have progressed further.
Its up to the management. If they show enough enthusiasm and will to win it, then the players will automatically do they same and put in the required effort.
Is tonight the night WHU finally go out of the EL, they have scraped and spawned their way through the earlier rounds
