As long as Portugal don't make the final it's all good with me.
How can you want a team, that is yet to win a game in the tournament, to go to the final? If Bale is still with Spurs, I would want Wales to go and win the Euro. But after the way he forced us to sell him, just can't accept him winning any trophies ! So won't mind if Portugal go and win it now, even if Ronaldo winning it will be bad as well.
I know the neutrals will be backing Wales but Portugal is not a traditional football power either. They have never won any trophy in their history. Portugal has always been a one-man team, from Eusebio in the 1960s, to Luiz Figo in the 1990s and Ronaldo from the 2000s onwards. Apart from these periods, they didn't even have a decent team in the 1970s and 1980s. I think they will struggle again once Ronaldo retires.
It's true Portugal are perennial underachievers reaching the semi-finals of the Euro five times and being runners-up once and they are competing in their seventh Euro in total. I would say that is a pretty good record for a small footballing nation and is not to be sniffed at. As a matter of fact, that is better than England's record in the Euro with a much larger population than Portugal's and England can be considered a traditional football power. To say they are a one man team shows you lack knowledge of Portuguese football. With the emergence of talented players like Renato Sanches, I doubt they will struggle again. Portuguese footballing academies surpass our academies in this country and the FA could learn a thing or two. Every team has a superstar, but you don't reach the knockout stages of the European Championship more than any other country by being a 'one-man team'.If Bale is still with Spurs, I would want Wales to go and win the Euro. Yes, because Portugal didn't win against Croatia and Poland to reach the semis did they? How can you want a team, that is yet to win a game in the tournament, to go to the final?

I'm in Lyon for a few days by coincidence. Thinking of writing 'ticket wanted' on a white tshirt and walking around town all day until someone stops me. Any other tips?
No. If you'd have put money on a Portugal win in those games, you'd have lost the bet, because they DREW and won on penalties. They have yet to win a football match.Yes, because Portugal didn't win against Croatia and Poland to reach the semis did they?
if Portugal leave France with the trophy having not won a game inside 90 mins I'll have nothing but admiration for them
That's not entirely true. Portugal has yet to win a match in 90 minutes. You must have missed Quaresma's extra time winner against Croatia.No. If you'd have put money on a Portugal win in those games, you'd have lost the bet, because they DREW and won on penalties.
