France v Germany will be very tasty. Wonder if it'll be open or very cagey; a test for both defenses and goalies, but unfortunately I'd rate Neuer over Lloris if it goes to pens. France to win it in open play, Germany if it goes to pens.

Portugal v Wales ? I'm praying and hoping for a Wales win. Wouldn't that be amazing ?

As long as Portugal don't make the final it's all good with me.

If Bale is still with Spurs, I would want Wales to go and win the Euro. But after the way he forced us to sell him, just can't accept him winning any trophies ! So won't mind if Portugal go and win it now, even if Ronaldo winning it will be bad as well.

I know the neutrals will be backing Wales but Portugal is not a traditional football power either. They have never won any trophy in their history. Portugal has always been a one-man team, from Eusebio in the 1960s, to Luiz Figo in the 1990s and Ronaldo from the 2000s onwards. Apart from these periods, they didn't even have a decent team in the 1970s and 1980s. I think they will struggle again once Ronaldo retires.

Either France or Germany will win the thing............That the best help I can give Portugal and Wales

Germany have a couple guys suspended, they will definately miss Hummels who ( imo) is the best CB in the tournament.

How can you want a team, that is yet to win a game in the tournament, to go to the final?

Biggest question for Wales is, can they handle the pressure of being the favourites to make the final.

It's true Portugal are perennial underachievers reaching the semi-finals of the Euro five times and being runners-up once and they are competing in their seventh Euro in total. I would say that is a pretty good record for a small footballing nation and is not to be sniffed at. As a matter of fact, that is better than England's record in the Euro with a much larger population than Portugal's and England can be considered a traditional football power. To say they are a one man team shows you lack knowledge of Portuguese football. With the emergence of talented players like Renato Sanches, I doubt they will struggle again. Portuguese footballing academies surpass our academies in this country and the FA could learn a thing or two. Every team has a superstar, but you don't reach the knockout stages of the European Championship more than any other country by being a 'one-man team'.

Yes, because Portugal didn't win against Croatia and Poland to reach the semis did they?

Figo also wasn't a one man team. I forget most of the names but Rui Costa is the one that comes to mind.

As for Portuguese academies, we don't have to look far when we have Eric Dier playing for us. He came as a CB, played mainly as RB before making the DM is own. The English-trained versions of such versatile players are Phil Neville and Phil Jones.

I'm in Lyon for a few days by coincidence. Thinking of writing 'ticket wanted' on a white tshirt and walking around town all day until someone stops me. Any other tips?

No. If you'd have put money on a Portugal win in those games, you'd have lost the bet, because they DREW and won on penalties. They have yet to win a football match.

if Portugal leave France with the trophy having not won a game inside 90 mins I'll have nothing but admiration for them

Can see Portugal-Wales semi final being a very tight match and going into extra time. But if Wales do progress to the Final, it will be utter humiliation for England since England have never been to any major Final since winning the WC in 1966. Maybe it will be time to disband the separate England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland teams and play as a unified Britain !

True. Remember Greece came from nowhere to spoil the party by beating Portugal in Portugal in 2004. It will be due compensation to Portugal if they win this Euro despite not being the best team.

That's not entirely true. Portugal has yet to win a match in 90 minutes. You must have missed Quaresma's extra time winner against Croatia.

Details, details. I'm still right. They haven't won a normal game of football yet, and I certainly hope they don't win the next! brick team with two of footballs most disgusting players, in Pepe Ronaldo.
