According to @Futbol_Mercado, we have offered €47 million to Roma for both Erik Lamela and Miralem Pjanic. #THFC

its getting ridiculous now, wtf's going on, if this has the slightest bit of truth in it then Bale's already gone. tbh with the players we're being linked with i'm not so sure its a bad thing?

Bale or Lamela/willian, pjanic/erikson, soldado, paulinho, coentrao, chadli, capoue...

ok say we'd have got 1 maybe 2 of those without the bale money, but to get the lot?

Re: Erik Lamela

MOAR central midfielders
MOAR!

in all seriousness if that deal were to be true then id say that'd signal the end of Bale (not so much the money but more the shape of the team)

I think you could be right. But in all honesty, the signings we would have made would arguably make up for the possible Bale departure.
You could argue it could make us a amore effective team. We were almost becoming a one-man team last season and looked lost if Bale was out or having a quiet game. With the likes of Saldado,Lamela,Pjanic in the team we look to have more potential matchwinners in the X1

Re: Erik Lamela

yeah i guess so.

hypothetically speaking, in fantasy land ...

433 :

----Sandro Paulhino----------Capoue Dembele
---------Pjanic----------------------Holtby
Bale------------Lamela----Lennon-----------Chadli

??

4231
----Sandro Paulhino----------Capoue Dembele
Bale----Pjanic----Lamela--Lennon Holtby Chadli

redonkulous
:ross:

i think id rather Lamela and Pjanic than Bale to be totally honest

Re: Erik Lamela

Unreal depth. SCARY depth.

I'd like to think you'd get "unhappy" players but I do think in AVB we have someone who would rotate during the cup games as well as pick players based on who would do best. Stoke is always a good example, putting tall players in who are good in the air. You may not get a Pjanic against Stoke but you'd get the hard working beast like players who can cause Stoke a ridiculous amount of problems etc.

Re: Erik Lamela

If Bale were staying we would should have at about £30M to spend with the extra tv money. Then add the Bale money that should be at least £80m. So that makes a war chest of about £110m at least, and it seems this summer we may be spending all of it

that'd more than make up for selling Bale it has to be said and after the times before where people have (rightly) complained about not replacing stars adequately - it would go some way to righting those wrongs.

although let's try not to get too far ahead of ourselves

Re: Erik Lamela

If this happens and then Bale goes, I really don't think the club could have done any better in softening the blow.

We could actually see a situation where we lose Bale, but still feel incredibly excited and confident for the season ahead!

Re: Erik Lamela

if this did come off it would remind me of the 94 summer window when we bought, klinsmann, dumitrescu and popescu, man that was exciting times.

A more balanced team instead of relying on one player, yep I could live with that.

Re: Erik Lamela

having said all this, i've never actually seen lamela or pajnic play, think I may be getting carried away with the hype! 8-[

Here's the more rigorous account of affairs:

http://www.gianlucadimarzio.com/calciomercato/details-on-tottenhams-meeting-with-roma/

Roma’s transfer period could change course in England. Southampton continues to be confident it will land Osvaldo, but Roma’s sporting director Sabatini met in London with Tottenham’s Franco Baldini. They discussed Pjanic and Lamela, two players that Spurs are interested in at certain conditions. But Roma is only open to these moves should Osvaldo remain. At the moment they were just preliminary discussions. Roma is returning from England, these are decisive hours.

Is this for real?
WTF is going on in Roma, are they going to sell all of their assets?

Re: Erik Lamela

The Baldini effect? He will know each players contract and the clubs financial state. As well as who to speak with, how to temp them etc.

Can't see Roma letting Lamela go easily. A heap of cash would be required. Much like Bale for us.
