One of Levy’s worst managerial choices given he flopped at Chelsea. The team and the manager didn’t have a clue how to score goals once Bale was sold.

Knowing he has spoken to PSG extensively with Nasser Al-Khelaifi and having, in AVBs admission a fractured relationship, even year one, they likely thought let him go, then do best by the club and get compo. Bale was incredible under him but his football was more boring than Jose and thats saying something.

Something I always wondered with AVB was whether his football was equally as boring at Porto or whether the Porto fans just accepted it if it meant winning.

I really liked AVB and wanted him to succeed. But I could never quite figure out whether it was just that his football hadn’t ‘clicked’ yet or whether that was the intended end state. We also seemed to play much more pleasing football away from home. And in small spells, like we could turn it on when we wanted.

Clearly at Chelsea he was trying to do something different, and so maybe that experience made him more pragmatic by the time he got to Spurs.

Too much Shadow of the Jose over him for me in that people expected him to be the same based on journey, the reality wasn't there. His short shelf life considering his age is telling
