Not sure, we've sold holtby and Sandro, both good midfielders in their own way. Stromboli is going to have to be good to cover the loss of both of those.

Holtby has never been able to hold down a first team place, so he is not likely to be that much of a loss. Sandro has not completed a full 90 minutes of a game in 2014, I think that it is likely that this is one of the reasons he was sold.

Statto on twitter saying we have a minus 21 million net spend on transfer last 5 seasons if true I don't know but we can't of spent much above our recoup

success would have done..

We can guarantee that? The disparity between us an the five clubs who spend more is huge. Even if we matched the fifth highest spend, there would still be six club for four Champions League places and what is to say that the five would not just up their spend again?

Hopefully all the money we are saving is going towards the stadium fund. I mean we dont even seem to be dipping into the money we get from Sky, Jesus if it all really went into a kitty the new stad would almost be paid for, alas we all know it doesnt

we will NEVER taste success if we don't at least gamble. depends if youre happy with being behind the likes of everton and victims etc

Well let's hope it is . I for one am disappointed again we have supposedly strengthened the defence but got totally ruined yesterday and look as toothless up top as last year.

I don't think your first comment is true, the long term interests of the club are best served by long term sustainable growth. You should only gamble if you are prepared to lose. If we lost with the kind of gamble you are talking about we would have to sell players at a big loss, lumber the club with big debts, get relegated and not be able to afford to build a new stadium. That is not a gamble that I would want us to take.

On your second point, how many times have we finished behind Everton and victims in the last ten years?

Holtby and SIggy didnt need replacing - we have 5 senior players and a kid for the 3 spots behind the CF (not including Kane or Dembele). The player we havent come close to replacing is Modric - granted, to get someone of the same standard would be hard (to say the least!) however none of our CMs can pass the ball

Eriksen's passing is not too shabby, but agree in terms of Dembele, Capoue Paulinho. You can blame a certain mr Villas boas on his preference for big, tall physical midfielders.

He is having to sell all these players to save up for the compensation clause in Poch's contract. Doesn't give another manager the tools to finsih in the top 4 so will sack him.
