Emmanuel Adebayor - Officially gone \o/

Ade was gat today. Thing is, even when he's been average I still think he's better for our team than Defoe. Hopefully he can play like today for the rest of the season.

Well Adebayor was destined to score today as he's averaged a goal every 568 minutes in the league this season and he'd played 522 minutes since his goal against Reading!

Today showed what difference a goal can do for a striker' confidence, especially a player with as fragile a confidence as Adebayor. Fingers crossed it's not another 500+ minutes until he scores again...

I just don't think he's good enough. I don't buy the "he fades as soon as he gets his contract" thing. His first touch is woeful, he's confident on the ball, just not very competent. So at least he's an upgrade on Crouch in that respect, Crouch was neither confident nor competent.

We've swallowed our pride over the years and signed a couple of high profile ex-gooners, we took Robbie Keane back after he went on strike, perhaps we should have had a word with Old Whisky Face and stopped Berbs going to Fulham.

Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in a while.

To be fair mate he's found two in the last four days and sniffed another out for a team-mate to snaffle...let's hope he continues finding them and thus becomes a big fat bastard by mid-May!!!!!

Much better today.

Agreed.

A goal and an assist today will do his confidence a power of good.

nice to see ade starting to take on opponents and not just attempt a lazy lay off. he's got very good close control for a big man. good indicator that he is gaining his confidence back.

Was frustrating at times -he looked to be begging for a through ball on more than one occasion but the midfield chose to pass sideways instead of releasing him.

I guess after the recent one on one misses they aren't too confident in hin yet :D

Good performance, more of the same on Thursday please

As we both know, this is a major reason (aside from how they've been deployed) that the strikers are not on a tear. Defoe was on fire when Sandro was alongside Dembele. When Scotty came in, his productivity plummeted and AVB (as we know) adapted the shape to take advantage of Bale's incredible pace and finishing. Strikers like Defoe and Ade need early quick passes to take advantage of initial movement (much more so in Ade's case as he makes some very very smart runs). I felt sorry for him yesterday at times. There again, I admire what parker brought to the game, and chose not to dwell on the things he simply cannot do. in fact, I'd given that ghost up long before kick-off...like the times people got frustrated with Zokora not being Zidane...or even a good Zokora to be fair!!!!!!!!

I think Parker gets the ball forward earlier than Sandro and definitely earlier than Dembele. Dembele must be the slowest releaser of the ball I think I have ever seen in a top four outfit. Top defenders seem to have sussed that if you block him off to his left and he has turn on to his right, he will run the ball straight to your feet  Fortunately the weaker defenders don't seem to have realised this yet and his runs can cause havoc against them.

Nice to see Ade finally turning up. Two goals and an assist in two games. Doing what he should have been doing more of. If he can keep it up we should do well to challenge without Bale.

Even with Bale back i think Ade should be the focus of our attack. He should be facing our own goal however and be receiving the ball and laying it off to Bale, Sig and Lennon to run on to. Which is when all three are at their most threatening. Rather then the scorer, he should be more creator as Bale and Sig are far more clinical in my book.

If he can grow this recent momentum into a rich vein of form we should do well. One can only hope.
