Emigrating to Australia.......... does anyone have any experience on this

Nice one. Thanks. I've paid $100 AUS to have a visa assessment performed by an MRMA Agent to find out if we are in a good position to proceed. Waiting on the outcome from that.........

it's not just the spiders, I can't remember who originally said it, but, Australia is like super Mario land, it's bright, green and lush, but anything you touch will kill you

the snakes and spiders might stay out of the city but that is where all the drop bears live, and they will fudge you up

'a large, arboreal, predatory marsupial related to the koala, the size of a leopard, having coarse orange fur with dark mottling, with powerful forearms for climbing and attacking prey, and a bite made using broad powerful premolarsrather than canines.'
Apparently from a Australian museum

A hoax apparently

Hi everyone. Myself, partner and 2 young children have just started the process to emmigrate from Scotland. My oldest child is 4 and I was wondering if it's quite easy to get her enrolled in a school. We are hoping to have moved by next September so I am just trying to get as much information as possible. Thanks in advance

Brought my daughter over at 5 years old, already had a school sorted by emailing them direct and having a Skype interview. If you know where you are moving to get hold of the local schools and email them, alternatively go onto expats websites and there will be loads of forums giving advice on the same thing.

just remember that they are in prep at 4 years old, pre-school at 5 and don't start grade 1 until 6 now (bloody stupid I think but hey ho)

In respect of dangerous animals here in the British isles we wiped out all of our killer vermin Including some mighty creatures more or less with our bare hands hundreds if not thousands of years ago.

And no doubt we invented the bbq ten minutes later - not prawns- probably a bit of mammoth, wolf or bear.

I've been strongly considering this, although not having a degree is an issue even though I work in a degree level role.

The visa situation is daunting but the way to look at it is its basically a series of hurdles designed to stop unwanted people from coming here. If you've got a profession (you or your wife), no criminal record (ironic I know) and enough cash in the bank to get yourselves set up, you should be fine.

Seems a tad racist.

Was it your gf who moved back to Australia from uk? If you want assistance I’m happy to help with visa advice. I think if you have years of work experience that can override the need for a degree.

My wife’s family emigrated to live NSW, as does her only sister. We tried to get a visa years ago as apparently her last surviving relative status was lost when we either became common law or got married. We paid about 1k to get someone to look into the usual points route, this was years ago and never heard any more so I think the quickest route is either via an in demand profession or sponsorship. It may be more favourable via the ancestral route for you though, not sure what their rules are.
In terms of the move, it really is something that may take a year or two to find out. I’m sure work and socially you’ll be fine, I have friends who have been and stayed and been and returned but the challenge in your case may be how your kids buy into it? pm if you fancy a chat, have a very close mate who has successfully gone who I’m sure I can put you in touch with for a chat and he may be able to give you a steer in the job front?

Thought I would quote it a second time. Kind of a wow moment for me reading that. Just wow.

OK I'll bite.

The basic pillars for an application to move here (hurdles was the word I used because that is what it feels like when you are going through them), Health, Education, Crime. Along with around five grand in fees for the average application. Getting all these elements signed off by bureaucrats takes months if not years.

Requiring visa applicants to produce police clearance certificates is not a trait only used by Australia. It's a standard immigration checklist request.

Requiring visa applicants to produce a medical certificate makes sense to me but I wouldn't think it is particularly racist.

Giving preference to visa applicants with degrees or professions which are in short supply here, also makes sense to me otherwise inviting people from all corner of the world to come and join the dole queue is exactly the sort of policy which caused all the Brexit angst in UK.

Nowhere in any of those policies do I see something that is racist. My partner just went through the whole process so I'm fairly up to speed with the current regs. Australia's current migrant intake is approximately 60% from the subcontinent, again not a particularly racist approach. They've also opened up for Sudanese refugees, El Salvadorians, Lebanese etc etc

As someone correctly posted on here a few pages back, Australia was colonized by the English who carried out the most disgusting racial elimination of aboriginal people in modern day history. Since then it has become an absolute melting pot of multi cultural harmony.

No doubt you along with most other Australia haters have never been here, but feel qualified to comment on a daily basis. Would I be correct in that assumption?

I suggest you go to bed and calm down.

Nope

I suggest you stop being racist. Using the same rules I have seen you use in the politics thread for years against anyone who backs brexit.

Keep out undesirables, that is a totally disgusting thing to say. Have given you a chance to disprove it. But actually you are a racist.

Haha yeah ok whatever helps you go to sleep, I'm a racist.... You know me and you know Australia so you're in a great position to say that. I'm not the Australian government, I was simply explaining how their immigration system works. Does that make a racist?

You forgot to answer my one question in the above post..
