Dominic Solanke

You can't be undecided nowadays. There's no withholding judgement and waiting any more. This is the Internet! All in, or all out. No middle ground!

I'm also undecided. I don't not rate him, I just haven't seen enough to make a proper judgement (and I suspect I am in the majority).
I think that’s very fair
We haven’t seen him even pull on a shirt and smile yet

I didn’t say I was more qualified than Ange to judge the quality of a player. I didn’t think I really needed to spell that out. Otherwise I would be a football manager rather than a project manager. But at this level there’s still an element of him being not as polished or as proven as other managers in the league.

You kinda inferred it by using our/his interest in Connor Gallagher as an example of him not being able to judge players at this level

Dom Solanke used to be scouse,
Then he bought a seaside house,
But the seaside house wasn't very big,
So then he decided to be a yid.

This 100%. I don't really have enough knowledge about him to make any kind of informed judgement about Solanke's ability. That doesn't mean I think he's crap. I know far to little about him to think that as well.

He's probably a very good footballer; most PL players are. His stats from last season look promising. People say he's a good fit for how we play.

I think his price tag is a bit high; then again good players (especially from other PL teams) are expensive, and the club obviously feels he's worth it.

Bottom line is we spend big money to strengthen a position most agree we need to stregthen; we buy a player who is a proven PL goalscorer and a good fit for our style, according to those who know him. Any transfer is a gamble, obviously, but I am optimistic about Solanke's arrival, despite not really knowing enough about him to make my own, informed judgement about his ability.
