Whoever it is will have to pull a special player out of the bag, be it a youth player, purchase or someone coming from under the radar. The question was meant to be around which club would be best placed to be a surprise package now, rather than step on under the right circumstances.
The team would have to have a solid defence, be allowed to play counter attacking football even when they are near the top of the league and have at least one individual who can turn a game and a form striker, with no other distractions and some good fortune to build up the momentum.
Saudi Sportswashing Machine have the coach but would need a lot of investment.
Everton have a pragmatic coach and ‘next best’ resources but not really a squad of players suited for counter attacking football.
Palace have the special player (not the striker though!) and would have to stop conceding late goals (winning mentality?!)
Burnley seem to be universally liked and would be my pick due the settled nature of their style due to the managers longevity, excellent defence and two good keepers. They probably need a lock picker and tend to share the goals so one of the strikers would need to step up but if they end up in Europe the opportunity will diminish instantly.
