Davinson Sanchez

... and his strength and pace don't seem elite for the premiership where they were perhaps in the Dutch league.

Yes, there was one incident against Swansea where instead of going for the ball as the last man he tried to barge the forward out of the way and came off worse; hopefully he'll learn from that.

Yep but those guys don't play the way that we do.

Listen I hope I'm wrong and I am 100% not saying he won't make it big with us. But at the moment he gets too close, he seems rash and his strength and pace don't seem elite for the premiership where they were perhaps in the Dutch league.
Bloody hell.... what exactly do you want to see from a 21 year old who has only played 2 PL games so far? I think his level has been amazing considering the stage of career that he is at.

People need to stop spiking at people for expressing a view, yes it was a horrible weekend football wise, but calm down everybody.
My take, the kid looks very nervous and that is only to be expected with all he as had to adapt to at his young age.

Agree, but when the "view" does not contain common sense and logical thinking, The view must be challenged. Otherwise people will complain when there is nothing to complain about.

-We won the leauge!
-Yeah, but we lost one game and draw away to Stoke. Not good enough.

I cannot understand why people throw their brains way the same moment they entering a discussion concerning football

In which way does football requires headless chickens as followers?

Yes it's irrational.
But I was ticking Saturday night. I knew I was verging on lunacy at the time and it took me a good hour to come down.

Is it possible to be 'incandescent with disappointment' ?

It is probably one of the perverse attractions of football it can bring out the "headless chicken" in the most mild mannered of us?

I can understand that you, sometimes, react spontaneously, to what you actually see and hear, at that very moment. But a few hours and days afterwards? And regarding disappointment, why allowing the disappointment to make you stupid? Dissappointment happens from time to time in you daily life too. But very seldom that dissapointment cause you to have behave like an idiot days after...

"cause you to have behave like an idiot days after..." unless you are indeed an idiot?

Unfortunately we/they are attracted to the game.

You insinuate that he will not make it in the premiership. And that for a 21 year old guy that been here for a month. And therefore it is too harsh to draw any future conclusion of what you see.

I'm insinuating nothing of the sort. I'm counterbalancing what has been nothing buy praise for him so far.

I'm commenting on parts of his game that need improvement, or they will cost us. And by the very next game he may sort them out, but as it stands I would be worried about him against better forwards in the system that we play.

Is that aimed at me? Because the Swansea result to me, was yes a disappointment. But I'm not angry about it, because 9 out of 10 times one of our many chances goes in and we win that type of game.

What I am commenting on is the serious flaws i see in one of our players.... does that mean I think he won't make it. fudge no. It means I have identified issues with his game that need to be improved. Especially if he is to be left as last man within our system

I would like to see him not get so close to attackers for one. I would also like to see him not be so rash challenge... But hold the attackers up and delay so we can get our shape back.

I think he looks quite good in the air, pretty strong, decent pace. Not sure if a back 3 is new to him or that's how Ajax played. He's had some nervy moments.

He seems to have that knack of getting in the way that I like for defenders, seems to get in the right position to clear it or head it away. I think he's made a decent start and will get better as he settles in to the team and adjusts to the league. I haven't seen anything to worry about performance wise because I think there have been some misjudgements that are down to not being settled yet, rather than the player not being up to it.

I will say it because no one else has. He was shaky against a side that wasn't great going forward.

As it stands I would be worried about him against better forwards.

But he is young and very early in his spurs Career.
Indeed, he did get done on a few occassions and was fortunate not to get sent off when tangling with Abraham - weird considering Swansea didnt even try and attack according to some.

That being said he is 21, and has all the attributes to be a complete defender and in fact in the few games Ive seen him in including vs Man U in cup final he looked incredibly solid so just put it down to being all part of the learning curve....

I think that's fair. And for the record I don't think he ain't up to it. I have just seen some issues that i hope poch and his team are working on, and resolve before they cost us... which they will if they remain unresolved.
