Although I am happy to have Levy as chairman and part owner of the club I have to disagree with him about the regulator , he and his fellow conspirators did try to rip English football apart by trying to join the Euro Super League , which along with clubs like Bury going to the wall pushed the Government into action , it is he and fellow club owners that have caused a football regulator to be installed because on some issues they can't be trusted. The PL for example can't even rule against selling womens teams and hotels to yourself to evade PSR.

I'd say there was some substance to it, in terms of getting Levy's direct thoughts on things. But he wasn't really asked any hard hitting questions, not Spurs related anyway - Neville wanted to press him on football governance matters more than anything else.
But regardless its always interesting listening to him, as he is an intelligent man very experienced in the field and in the few bits of media he has done he has always come across well. But there is nothing ground breaking coming out of this piece for sure. I noted that the interview was done a month ago, as the 50 Cent concert that the stadium was preparing for was on 3rd July....

I wouldn't say it's a fluff piece but it's not a hard-hitting interview, which I wasn't expecting it to be anyway.
Most of it is around the stadium build, and then towards the end the talk about ambitions, winning the EL, Ange etc etc., which for Spurs fans is not really telling us anything new.
What I did find interesting was listening to Levy talking about the state of the game today, what needs to be fixed in the PL, how the FA ought to have been the arbritrator to bring all elements of the football pyramid together (as opposed to the government regulation which we now have), how he thinks PSR issues will settle down in a few years. Clearly doesn't have too much sympathy for club owners that just want to invest loads of money without worrying about whether it is sustainable - taking the short-term view only.

I assume there were a few no go areas. As the obvious question would have been around the failed super league and how that would have helped the wider game and pyramid that he was in support of.
My assumption is he would have felt he had to go along with it as he couldn’t see us left behind if it succeeded.
Reasonable interview but do wonder why he decided to do it now having been mainly quiet in terms of interviews in his tenure.

nothing wrong with that except that for fans, there is no urgency for trophies, nothing about paying competitive wages.

Wonder if the abuse he’s taken has stung so much that he’s taken PR advice. He’s done this piece, the unseen Jordan piece and the club interview recently where he stated he wants to win the league and CL.
Levy’s always tried to maintain a dignified silence and rise above those who don’t like him. Last year, the discontent with ENIC and Levy reached a level I haven’t seen before.
Point 1 is a reach, once the idea of ESL became a reality (was created by clubs on continent, not English), Spurs had to be included or become irrelevant, it was his duty to get the club in
Point 2? I'm sure Levy would welcome a financial/football regulator with actual teeth, we are the ones out of all clubs who have suffered the most with cheaters/money dopers. You know what Spurs history would look like with no Chelsea, no City, no Saudi Sportswashing Machine, no Villa, in the last 20 years?

Why would Spurs become irrelevant , two bigger clubs than Spurs i.e Bayern and PSG turned down the idea so they didn't think they would be irrelevent.
Also have to ask the question why were Spurs involved , if you go on domestic trophies won Villa are a bigger club than Spurs , that should raise a few eyebrows.
On the role of the regulator , they will have no power to alter the rules of the PL that is not their function, those rules are made by the PL clubs themselves and as we have seen they are not fit for purpose.

The Super League concept was a massive win for the clubs. The European Court of Justice ruled that FIFA and UEFA were acting illegally trying to block it. Their statement "The FIFA and UEFA rules making any new interclub football project subject to their approval, such as the Super League, and prohibiting players from playing in those competitions, are unlawful,”
So whilst the SL didn't happen, the ECJ verdict shut down all of UEFA's planned punishments and weakened their position in football. We know that these governance bodies have been stealing decision rights for decades. I had it from someone very informed that UEFA average salary is 150k euro's and that only 55% of the revenues from the monies earned by the UEFA comps finds its way back to the participating clubs. Why should any of the participating clubs be happy about that?
This was the real agenda why those clubs got together including our own. In my opinion, it was absolutely worth it just to put these 2 big organisations on the back foot for future engagements. Now we sit back and watch as FIFA try to get their hands on the UEFA revenues, and hence we saw the club world cup. There will be more to follow on these power plays.
My view on all of this is that all the PL clubs should own their own TV infrastructure. They should no longer have their company revenues managed by other entities like the PL. They should own their own rights to their own product. I have a feeling it will happen soon, like we see with the 2 Spanish giants. There is an inevitability about this power play between the clubs and the governing bodies.
