I like your thinking.Actually that's my brother actually, he works in wellpark brewery.
Infections dropped again. I suspect the death rate is just lagging.
If only there were a country similar to ours that had proven there's no need for an outdated, monolithic, inflexible, expensive healthcare system that can prepare for and react to such events......
We can only test as many people as we have tests for.But @scaramanga said that you can only produce them in Unicorn farms? And it has nothing to do with the government acting too slowly.

Public provided, monolithic healthcare system or flexible, modern healthcare system - pick one.

I've got a mate who works in a lab that could be used for testing. He was decommissioning everything last week, so that it could be closed. There had been no contact from the government. It's a couple of days since we spoken, so I don't know if they've contacted them this week.

Watch you don't cut yourself on that edge
We have labs that produce tests, they get paid for by a health service that isn't fit for purpose. Look at the capacity (before COVID-19) in Germany compared to the UK and you'll see the problem.Your mates should have ramped up test production from January and prepared this country better for the completely predictable situation we find our self in. The fact that they didnt is fudging incompetence.
In fairness the economic measures they have put in place are fair. Even though I'm not sure I will benifit from any of them.
Given the situation, I think it's just as bad that someone like your mate (or his boss) doesn't make their expertise known during what is quite clearly a national emergency.I've got a mate who works in a lab that could be used for testing. The government may not have had every test produced that could have been, but many labs have been running at (over) capacity for weeks now. We just don't have the capacity in this country the way countries with modern healthcare systems do.
