Coronavirus

There isn't one.

That's why (looking at Gordon Brown here) you don't spend all the fudging money when you don't need to spend all the fudging money.

Oh really? I thought the free market was your answer to every economic problem? So, is your business under pressure? You want a bit of socialism? Ha, ha! :)

Nations will initiate quantitative easing, like they always do in these situations. There is never a concern when needing to find billions of pounds to fight their wars.

The research is fine - no reason to suspect it's anything other than expert.

He's advocating a step further in terms on isolation than we already have though. A shutdown of most businesses - clearly with no understanding whatsoever of the actual implications of doing so are.

We have to be similarly careful as we are with climate change, that we don't allow the voices for whom this is politically convenient to drown out those of common sense.

What's the situation with your factory in Czech?

My business will be fine.

I've never claimed that everything can be solved by free markets, merely that governments should avoid interfering with them wherever possible. Some things obviously cannot be provided per individual - street lighting, defence, etc.

We have around 1400 cases in Norway, but testing is officially limited to key personnel and people that need hospitalization. Everyone else is told to just stay at home if they think they might have it. The number is probably a lot higher.

I've been at home for almost a week now with symptoms. Started with a massive headache, then a mild fever for a few days and it's a little harder to breathe than usual, but I'll probably never know if this was it.

I've been in a similar situation since the weekend. Tight chest, constant coughing and a headache, I haven't had a fever. I think that it is probably C19 but there is no way of being certain.

I had similar mate.

It is not knowing whether that is what it is.

I'm sleeping and eating in our downstairs room on my own and only been in the garden. Dont want to do anything that hurts nhs.

Just dont know whether I had it or not.

Wishing you all a speedy recovery.

The staff are all fine and imports are OK. Exports are currently a problem.

Fortunately for us (and our staff) that side of the business is a cash cow. We own the land and the buildings, so if we shut the doors we could continue paying everyone for the best part of a year.

Are you or your family out there at the moment?

No and we don't know when we will be. My wife and son might be able to travel if the restrictions are lifted slightly but I cannot risk getting stuck there.

Cafe outside my house rammed with OAPs having lunch. More loud laughter than usual like they are out on a jolly.

This is a bit of a silly thing to do right? or am I taking the government instructions too seriously?

What I find interesting his how hand to mouth the business world lives. The fact that some business can't afford a lean month or two is astonishing.

If any business is sitting on more than two months of cash then it's failed to properly invest what it has.

Same. My wife had it first and I am about a week behind.

FWIW.

The Mrs and I keep saying to each other 'i think we've had this' .

The main bad part of it lasted about 5/6 days. Feel like you're coming down with something then within a day you get the chills, fever and body aches and incapable of doing much (even if you want to any task feels like climbing Everest) A nagging headache with but NO sore throat. I didn't really have much of a cough (but it takes quite a bit for me to get a cough) but the wife and daughter did. Plus I had restless night's sleep.

This is all in early February
Dear daughter had it, then the wife and then me (after roostery bollo.cks thought he'd swerved it).....and of course most of the primary school was rife with it. And the parents keep looking at each other thinking we've had this.? (Of course it might have been flu?)

Once recovered I was ok for 10days then got a little throaty with gunk and then snot ...either a cold or a post virus clear out of dead cells etc.

One other thing I'll add is I did have something very similar early December? And generally I'm pretty healthy so?......

Hope you guys feel better....I'm sure you will.

It would be really really handy if we could test who has had it so those people could be green lighted to resume their lives and help others.

Each business is unique. Some may need reserves for expansion or to maintain cash flow. Just depends on the business. One thing is for sure, though companies may be able to pay people for half a year with no income, they won't. Scara won't, no company will. If people are not working, companies won't be paying them for long. They will hold any cash reserves rather than spend it on wages for people who are not working.

What is statutory sick pay? About £100 a week? It is not enough for most people. Therefore I don't think lockdown can last for more than a month or two.
