Comolli sacked from the bindippers?

So are people solely blaming kenny for Liverpool's failures and letting comolli off the hook cos he signed a few decent players at spurs?

No, but you said he was tinkle-poor for us and I simply noted some of his transfers were very good buys.

No clue what transpired between him and Kenny

I won't argue he made some good signings, but the facts remain that he and Ramos left a huge mess at the club which redknapp had to clean up.

Did a good job - Kaboul, Benny, Bale, Modric, Berba.

correct me if im wrong - but i think he is a good long term planner and getting mid range players that have to potential to step up

Kaboul, Benny and Bale ll took three years to really get going - and if they came into the club now, would need two years of Prem loans to be "ready"

Berba and Modric were being looked at by lots of clubs, but no one was willing to take the plunge.

the players that HE brought in weren't performing. There seems to be a culture in football where it's always the managers fault and everyone else gets off scot free

Well, some of his players performed very well under Arry so it wouldn't be completely wrong to assume - it was indeed down to the manager

Berba and Bale were tracked by the club pre-Comolli. Kaballsup and Clotto are hardly shining examples of good jobs....

Fair play on Modders though!

Shame he failed to identify the need of a defensive midfielder in his entire time at the club....

Comolli was sacked by Levy because it was Comolli who insisted on hiring Ramos, and because once Levy decided to sack Ramos and put the call out to Redknapp to see if he's be interested, Redknapp said he wanted to work alone, not with Comolli, not with any DoF

signings wise whilst at Spurs, Comolli contributed to some big hits, and some big misses......much like most managers without DoFs. Redknapp himself has been very much hit and miss, but at least he takes the praise of the flak on any signing. There is no-one else to blame

Dalglish said: ""Everyone who has come into the club since Damien has been here was of my choice. Once I made the choice who I wanted, Damien went away and did a fantastic job of bringing them in"

At least KKK has the decency to claim the big signings that have failed to fire as his buys.

Not really Comolli's fault if Daglish asked for Henderson, Downing & Carroll.

He concluded the Berba and Bale deals though - some credit

As to the nicknames - don't quit you day-job

And to be fair to Comolli, they never exactly seemed like his targets. KKK is a power freak, I can't imagine Comolli would be able to bring anyone in that Kenny didn't want.

It makes me chuckle a bit actually. When Kenny was first being mooted for position, any Liverpool leaning journo or newscaster you cared to listen to was bleating on about Kenny not being past it, a great man manager and MOST IMPORTANTLY... How Kenny Dalgleish had his finger on the pulse of ALL European football and could tell you all about the pros and cons of the majority of youth coming up through most European clubs...

...So he ends up with Carroll for ?ú35m and Downing and Henderson for ?ú20m a pop, cracking scouting that!

its the DOF position thats gone. Look at the effect getting rid had on spurs, we went flying into the top 5 and now only just fluttering around 4/5 place. Whereas since hes been there theyve gone from 2nd by two points to proper brick.

I would hazard a guess that Comolli was trying to sign a load of promising youngsters this summer and Kenny wants to a) ship out some utter dross and b) get in a crowd pleaser to distract from the downhill slide.

Arnesen as DoF:

04/05 9th

Comolli as DOF:

05/06 5th
06/07 5th
07/08 11th

Redknapp:

08/09 8th
09/10 4th
10/11 5th

The only thing that clearly had an effect was the appointment of Ramos, though at the time many were of the opinion that Jol weren't able to take us any further.

It's my opinion that the work put in by Arnesen and Comolli on the youth setup and our transfer strategy is the reason we're doing as well as we are. We spent several seasons acquiring players both for right now and the future. A lot of players have moved on for various reasons (not good enough, tapped up by United etc.). We have kept that strategy somewhat with Levy in charge of transfers, but not spent as much because we spent a lot in past seasons to get ourselves to where we are.

you can hardly call them poor signing - both have gone on to be regulars in a team competing for the CL places and are now established internationals

they are not exactly michael ricketts
