Classic games - highlights and chat

Also, I remember this right at the start of 2005.
What a great game, we could have had ten, Keane could have had a hat-trick and Marney looked like a new sensation.

Hi everyone. It's really great to find this forum! I'm currently in the process of uploading old season reviews, compilations and Spurs-related VHS and DVD content which are now out of print, on my YouTube page, https://www.youtube.com/@THFCSeasonArchive. These videos are complete (copyright permitted), and I am also slowly getting around to uploading them to Internet Archive (search THFC Season Archive for the unedited vids). Please do check it out!

I still believe that for 30 minutes we never played better football in this era; some of it was insanely beautiful. The goals were magnificent, well, 2 and 3. That second is one of the best goals I ever saw us score. We survived some serious aggro that day too...a glorious match. What a side. What an era!!!

p.s. watch Hughton and Galvin and how they worked together. I loved Hughton; he was inventing the inverted FB befgore anyone knew what it was. Such a dynamic player...

Spurs v Burnley 1966 FA Cup
I've only seen Pathe News clip with their strange editing and camera angles but I'll never forget the game.
It was a typical WHL mudbath in February
Burnley went 2 up after about 5 minutes through Irvine
Gilzean pull one back before half time, went in at 1-2
Gilly equalised 5 mins into second half, 2-2
Couple of minutes later Irvine scores for his hattrick, 2-3
We were all over them then Frank Saul grabs the equaliser with 20 minutes to go, 3-3
Both teams are desperately trying to get a winner but are tiring, with a couple of minutes to go Gilzean scores for his hattrick the crowd go mad and we win 4-3
I think it's the only game I've seen where players from both sides score a hattrick, Irvine's was slightly easier as we had the woeful Laurie Brown as centrehalf.
I got home and was exhausted I don't know how the players must have felt.
I still have the programme somewhere in the attic.

Yeah that's the game. Dave Mackay was out injured and I thought it was going to be a tough game without him as he was still a driving force in our team. At the end of season we replaced the terrible Laurie Brown with Mike England.

Just sorting some old programmes out, and wondered (due to memory loss:)) ...what the result was this day....we lost 2-0 ....but when I found a video of the game the memories came flooding back because of one incident 🤦 :)
