Don't you just hate it when people say this? Especially when it's complete strangers. Or when people say "smile"? fudge off!

Who are they to come up and say that to you? They don't know me. How do they know I haven't just received some really bad news and that's the reason why I don't look cheerful?

Cheer up ;)

But no seriously tho ot annoys me too... People in general annoy me really. Working at an airport does not help restore any faith in others either

I lost faith in humanity long ago

By the way - why would strangers try and cheer you up - has that taken place on the street?

No wonder things are going tits up with you sorry lot around!

When people say "smile" - you say thank you and appreciate the fact that you're way too lucky to act a miserable ****, living in the free world plenty of food eating telly watching fudge!

Its more based on your own perception than that person being an inconsiderate arsehole.

The last time someone said that to me, I said "My dad died this morning" and the look on the guy's face was a picture. So I came clean and said he hadn't, but advised him that perhaps before saying things like that in the future he should consider whether there's a reason why somebody looks down.

That's mental. Who's really in the wrong, someone trying to interact and spread a bit of cheer, or someone inventing stories about dead relatives.

The guy who's trying to butt into your life and sticks his nose where it doesn't belong. Obviously. :p

Doesn't Scara live near you Chich? He should definitely make it his goal to honk you.

In fact, if he honked, waved and shouted "cheer up, it might..." at the same time we'd probably get a really good post in Random.
