Champions League 2018/19

Essex is full of dippers, more of them than Spurs/Arsenal/West Ham combined in my experience. At school we would play Liverpool fans vs the rest, and we still had to have a rush keeper.

Get any jip off them, ask them where they grew up, and why they aren't supporting Billericay Town.

I have a bad feeling if Liverpool get an early goal, Barcelona will crumble.

Every Liverpool fan at work believes they WILL turn it around, even if Barca get a goal they are convinced they can get 5.

Barcelona have form, didnt they blow a 3-goal lead last season, and I still havent forgiven them for not knocking Chelsea out 'that season'

Great call. They probably would have gotten a fifth if needed.

Riiiight.... And I'm talking about this game. Beating Barcelona 4-0 without two of your best attackers is a pretty incredible achievement. Consider how toothless we looked without two of our main attacking players against Ajax.

Yeah but the two replacements had the game of their lives. Our squad players haven't got that level in them. We need some serious investment in the squad.
Bad result for us, if we do somehow pull it off tomorrow I fancied us against Barca , not so sure about the scousers, they are looking even better than City right now.

Never even pkayed the 5 mins
And that was a dive by fabinho

This really annoys me. Time wasting never gets punished. Van Dyke injury and then the stoppage after that plus all the substitutions should surely have meant at least 7-8 minutes extra.
And then the ref blows up early despite stoppages in injury time.
This needs to be looked at, incredibly frustrating if it's your team that's chasing the game.

I dont know any Liverpool suporters, so I guess Im just lucky but
It's fudging backwards thinking to rather lose against Ajax to avoid losing against them. Anything can happen. Everyone expected Barca to win tonight, and look how that future thinking went.

Kind of backwards, but not totally illogical.

Of course we want to win tomorrow and beat Liverpool in the final. But if we beat Ajax and then lose to Liverpool, it's not unreasonable to take the view that losing tomorrow would have been a less unpleasant result. This is not the same as wanting to lose to Ajax, just a ranking of possible outcomes at the end of the season. I can see why people would rank the last two differently and why hindsight could change it.

1. Beat Ajax and Liverpool ( I think we would all agree this is the best set of results .. even here ).

2 (or 3). Beat Ajax and lose to Liverpool (the opportunity is worth the pain)

3 (or 2). Lose to Ajax (and avoid the pain of a final loss).

In the last 5 years:

3-0 vs Juve
3-0 vs Roma
4-0 vs PSG
4-0 vs Liverpool

fudge me. Terrible bunch of results away.

Having said that, fudge me, I hate saying it but Liverpool were incredible over the 180 minutes. Origi and Winjualdum ffs. Genuinely ffs.

I hope we get through and smash them or failing that, Ajax but am struggling to see it tbh.

Kind of feel like their name is on the trophy. fudging sickening.

Yeah it does look like that but then if we pull it off tomorrow after the incredible tie against City and the great escape out of the group, then wouldn't it feel like our name was on the trophy ?

Fair point.

One thing Liverpool have no shortage of is belief. Some might call it delusion but they think they are going to win everything and it drives them on. I'm not sure our guys have that, unfortunately.

Personally think this is the better result for us if we get to the final. I know Barca were crap tonight but I’m still far more confident we could take on Liverpool than Barca in a final and go toe to toe with them....

I disagree but in your defence we did give Liverpool two very close games both of which could and should have been draws.
Just feel like they are getting better and better.

In a way, this result opens things up for us. Firstly it changes the dynamic of tomorrow. We now have to emmulate that performance, there is momentum to overturn. We're away but its only 1 goal we are down.

Secondly, we would have lost a one-off game to Bara in Spain. Would have loved to have seen the game, and on tonights performance pool looked the better side, but you know the deal, we'd have been completely done in Spain by them.

Now, thirdly, we know pool. We know what is needed to beat them. Kane back and with everything to play for. The harder game is tomorrow!

Not sure the Madristas would have even been cheering for Barca !

...and we have, in general, been going in the opposite direction for a couple of months now.
Still, it's a one off game. I'll reserve my final judgment until after tomorrow night, and no matter what, we will do better than Barca did today if we go through. Hell, Cardiff would have given it more a go.

A great and gutsy performance and a ‘triffic result. But I’m having trouble finding the articles saying that it’s all well and good doing what ‘Pool just did but they need to win a trophy for it to be successful. You know, like the ones written about us all the time.
