Thats an astounding piece of business from Levy! €3m loan fee for the season!! The fees which we've got player for his summer have been incredible, even when set against a more difficult market.

I still can’t work out how we’re funding it but I’m not complaining
I’m fully expecting united to now brick the bed and finally offer Dortmund the money they want for sancho... only for it to be declined
I also think arsenal will carry on saying they want Aouar and partey who would make a huge difference but not come up with the money
Then I look at what we’ve done and I’m still in shock almost.. every hole plugged with capable confident players
Yeah we need a CB, which I think we will get but that’s the icing on the cake

I think missing out on a CB wouldn't be the end of the world. Toby, Dier, Sanchez and Tanganga. Solid, solid group.

Teams like Arsenal and Chelsea would kill for a quartet of CB's that good.

If we do sign a new CB, I will personally wax up Levy's bald head and rub it all over my naked body.

Oh I agree
And confidence and the right atmosphere is worth an extra 10% on the pitch
We saw it in Pochs heyday and it will be no different now
 
CB is the area of the team which does jump out as the weak point now. We've had an incredible window so far...just hoping that Man U continue to screw up theirs!

Think if we sign Skriniar for £40m that's £100m all in.

KWP £12m
And potential to sell Rose, Aurier, Foyth, CCV, Dele, Sissoko and if we wanted to Lamela or Moura (although I don't think either of them will go).

Selling Dele would knock a big hole in that especially as stadium income has been kicked down the road to GHod knows when.

I'm not sure where the money is coming from? as behaviour wise it is a change for Levy. Maybe Uncle Joe has finally fronted a bit in lieu of the 'off the field' big shiny asset that is now completed and Levy has told him it needs a team back in the CL to go with it?

Not sure I agree, I wouldn't wax lyrical about any of our CHs, Toby is very good but now lacks any pace, I love Japhet but he's still a kid, and the jury is still out on Sanchez and Dier. There must be a lack of confidence in one/some of them as we wouldn't be so keen to drop £40m on a new one.

There is a real lack of decent CHs all round the league at the moment so saying any team would kill for ours is not saying much, plus I don't think they would....imo:)

For what it's worth I do agree with some of what you say. But Sanchez was our record signing at one point, he's a full international. So is Dier.

Toby is slow but still very good. Tanganga is the only unproven player, but he slotted into a back three against Chelsea and didn't look uncomfortable at all.

I just don't think it'll be a disaster if we don't sign a CB. I think we're trying to be opportunistic rather than trying to fix an alarming, gaping hole in the squad.

Look at pools CBS... the have 3 for 2 positions IIRC, but that does include the master in dingdong Van Dijk
City need to fix their defence quickly as it’s hindering them massively. Maybe Dias is then man But we really don’t know
United have more CBS than anyone but only rate one it seems
Arsenal have IMO some good options but weirdly keep on playing Side Show
Chelsea’s best CB isn’t getting any games which says a lot about their management

The improvement we’ve made everywhere else now makes our centre halves stick out! I’m sure I’d have taken this window in a heartbeat at the beginning of the window but a centre back would feel like the cherry on the icing on the cake.
If not I console myself that considering the majority of players that came 6th last year despite missing Kane and Son for a while (4th in Mourinho’s time) will be reserves, so all the improvements made should make life easier for the defence in the first instance. Plus Mourinho is renown for having teams that are strong defensively, that can’t be all down to personnel and as time goes on the current incumbents should improve.

TBH they have been poor though, I mean we can shake and bake it anyway we like but they are not performing well at all.

I think we will get another CB in TBH, the lad from Inter lad looks positive.
 
I don’t understand why Benfica have let him go on loan for 3m, when they signed him on a 5 year contract just last year and he scored 18 goals for them?!

villa are the only team To keep clean sheets so far
