Cann we make the top 4 or 5?

No chance.

Team have not improved and have been playing badly for a year now more or less.
We bought one player Solanke to improve the starting eleven.
Wingers aren't good enough need fast wingers who can dribble, shoot and cross the ball, none of the senor wingers have all three traits. Hopefully Mickey Moore can fill one role in next or coming years, but we seriously lack one now.
Porro and Udoggie great if not world class wingbacks but not good at defending as fullbacks and lacks awareness in the box, and poor heading the ball.
And Ange can't find the best midfield.

A trophy maybe.

Today was a BIG day; ARS and CHE failed to win, big gap opened up to Pool.

But more importantly, due to our weak starting attitude we didn't beat Ipswich and jump up to third on goal difference, so we are down in 10th and the knives are out. It is crazy how we let these 'easier' oponents beat us, all about our mentality and desire to win challenges and crush them. We only get going when we get angry.

Can we find (more) consistency? If yes for sure we can.

Somewhat disappointing thing is that just a couple of the games that definitely have been winnable going our way would have changed our standing in the table massively. Fine margins.

Even just taking that early chance against Ipswich quite easily could have seen us currently in third.

Again, consistency and fine margins. Ange, the coaches and the players have to find solutions for that.

Agree, but every club could say 'If only we had won this game we would be in this position' that's the point of the league table of course. So, like you say - we have to find solutions, and yes fine margins because up until this weekend we were top scorers and had one of the better defensive records so you would think it wouldn't require too much tweaking to get things going more in our favour.....

We’re fortunate the table is so tight so anything can happen
I m not sure we will get any consistency in the league this season from us
As I’ve said before I fancy us in the cups though and that may be the saving grace

Thsi is mad but looking at the table now and 3rd placed Chelsea have only won once in their last 5 games. Same with Arsenal in 4th. This is a deeply weird season so far, no one is creating a gap except for Liverpool.

Is it playing out like the leicester season, very competitive, one of the top teams slightly better than the rest, they falter mid season and some team unexpectedly puts together a run and gets over the line?

I bet if we look at the fixtures that the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal have had we'll see that many have had much tougher fixture schedules than us up to this point....
The league is indeed wide open apart from Liverpool, which makes our lack of ability to regularly keep clean sheets all the more maddening. We're also not very far from 14th place...

I think the new European fixture formats are taking it's toll, plus the number of international tournaments we've had over the last 4 years and also the fact that City's empire is crumbling slightly (inside and outside)...

Nah our fixtures are actually very similar
Well worth looking at the fixtures to see

Really??

Arsenal alone have faced us, Brighton, Liverpool, Emirates Marketing Project, Villa, Chelsea. Saudi Sportswashing Machine.
Chelsea have faced Liverpool, Emirates Marketing Project, Saudi Sportswashing Machine, Arsenal, Brighton.

We are still to face Liverpool, Emirates Marketing Project and Chelsea....

Yep
But that’s not where they have dropped points
Chelsea drew with united who everyone says are brick, best Saudi Sportswashing Machine, lost to pool and drew with Forrest. The only top half team they played before that run was city
Arsenal lost to Bournemouth (bottom half) and Saudi Sportswashing Machine away
At the relevant periods of time of facing teams our starts have been comparable
We have just had an easier period in the last 3 games or so but didn’t before that

We have also lost 5 times compared to both their 2 losses.

Chelsea's losses have both been to the current top 2 clubs (and clubs who were top 4 last season). We've not played either yet.
Arsenal's losses have been to Bournemouth (mid-table/upper lower table) and Saudi Sportswashing Machine (top half).

Ours have been to all manor: Saudi Sportswashing Machine (top half), Arsenal (top 4), Brighton (top 6), Palace (bottom 3/4 - winless beforehand) and Ipswich (bottom 3/4 - winless beforehand).

There might only be 3 points between us, but they both look far better from both the eye test and the numbers/context test...

It’s still very possible but I can’t see it to be honest. Think the inconsistency will continue and we’ll finish 6th - 10th. For me, 6th is still par and even 8th should give Ange another season.

I’d probably give him another season if he finished 10th but not sure Levy is as forgiving as me.

Ange gets top 4 and you’d have to say he’ll have done a great job. A pot is going to have to rely on us having good days exactly when we need them. It’s possible but I wouldn’t be putting money on it.

So we’re 3 points off them having lost 5 games
That’s a positive right.
Or we have lost 5 and we are awful
I think it’s a combination myself
We’re inconsistent and clearly have an issue playing teams post Europe when they have had a week to prep for us

Trouble is this has been the patter for a long time; i'd say it's not inconsistency any more and the gap is likely to widen. Our only hope imo is for more injuries, negativity to break out in those above us because we don't seem like we are changing much anytime soon...

Define a long time?
I mean we finished above Chelsea last season so we’re better then
May even better this year but won’t know until May
I think we have changed and I’ve seen plenty of positives but I’ve seen the so things that are just repeated time and and time again and they are what wind me up
