Yep, I'm travelling back from Paris shortly :( Eurostar aren't really clear either (the train starts from Brussels)...

Can already see more security at checkpoints.
 
10 dead at the metro too. It amazes me how LHR and LGW can upgrade security. Shouldn't it be at it's highest all the time now?

Grrr, not going too well. Got a non Eurostar to Lille and Eurostar from there to London. Unclear if this is affected. I'm hoping the Lille from KC train will arrive and return. Worst case scenario gonna have to find a room again (can't take anymore Disney!)

France Belgium border is now closed and alot of trains are suspended. Understandably there is heightened security everywhere.

as you say, information is limited, looks like only trains that were to/from Brussels are affected, good luck
 
I live in Brussels. It's been a really weird feeling here for a while. Since the Paris attacks we've had soldiers on the streets and outside all significant buildings (parliament, shopping centres, museums etc) and it's got to the point you don't really notice them anymore.
Strangely, my boss asked me in a meeting last week if I was planning on staying in Brussels long term and I told him its up to the Mrs, then joked as long there ain't a terrorist attack cos she'll freak out and want to head straight back to the UK.
That metro is right in the parliament district. It's hard to believe how little casualties there were, that section of the metro line is like those trains in India where you see people squeezing on!
 
Still here :D but a step closer. Waiting for the cattle mobile. Upgraded on the way but won't bother on the return :rolleyes: :D Queuing at Disney has given me a new found sense of patience.
 
After events like to day I feel even more we should stand shoulder to shoulder with our European partners against a common enemy. This is not a time to divide Europe by countries pulling out of unions but rather we should come together to seek a common solution.

I would not bring politics into a situation like this personally. I feel sorry for what happened to the people over there, and be self preservation is kicking in but I worry about the time they will get through here, because it is coming.

Never understood why people want so much for everyone to think the same way as them, with the extremists if that is your view fine but why you want me to think the same way as you?

I have my thoughts and opinions on things, frankly I would rather play table tennis against a topless escort with custard running down her tits, that is my idea of heaven, if yours is getting on your knees and praying to something that does not exist, go for it. But why try to convert others, it reminds me of those geeky kids at school who were trying to convince everyone else how clever they are. Big fudging deal you understand the periodic table, I don't know let me get on with day dreaming about debbie moss's boobs.
 
We don't have Schengen so the EU stay/leave regarding security is a red herring.
And irrespective of an opposing views, if terrorists want to perform terrorism, they will.
Stay or leave we will continue to share intelligence in the same way - far too much at stake not to.
Brussels, Tunisia, Egypt, Turkey - all of these affect all of us. It's a world problem.

I think there is a very real trade off between security and convenience.

Should they wish to, I suspect those responsible could make airports very nearly 100% secure. That would inconvenience all of us so much that we'd never accept it (and rightly so - I still remember the pride with which my friends and I drank in London in the midst of Republican departedness). Somewhere along that scale is the sweet spot, and I think that those in charge he generally tread the line reasonably well.

Indeed... I'm surprised nothing has happened in the UK, other than the stabbing incident, since ISIS was formed. It's scary when you see how many people are being closely watched by security services and how many attacks are being foiled.

Eventually you reach a point where the number of people who want to harm you is so high that you can't watch them all and that's when they start running riot.

A girl in my chemistry class, her tits were the only way i got through the first 2 years at secondary schools(she was an early developer) then we got put into sets on ability and I was with the dunce class, teacher actually used to give us dunce hats.

No nice girls in there with tits to dream about, the was a boy one of those spacky types who was pretty fat and I used to wonder in my adolescence urges whether his tits were nice, he never did PE so never got to see in the showers. RIP to the people in Brussels I hope they find the people and also try and find a way to stop these things happening, I am guessing a generational struggle with young people from the muslim population, try to win hearts and minds.
