I went nearly 5 years ago, I thought it was pleasant enough to be fair. Can't remember actually going out in the evening other than to dinner and then a quick drink in bar so I can't help in that respect but it is defo worth just wandering around the main square and having a nice beer at the cafes, visiting some of the amazing chocolate shops that look like jewellers because of the security, mannekin pis? I think thats what it is called, a monument near the centre of town.

I went to Lille while the Christmas markets were on, which were pretty nice. Rest of it is a bit 'meh' too.

There's a ****py zoo built in an old fort near a canal, I think that's the only think of note I can remember.

Been to Brussels twice, I don't remember much.

The beer is great and the peeing boy is the worst touristy thing I've ever seen in my life... that's all I got.

Not been but was in Ghent last week which was nice and Bruges is supposed to be better still.

I've been working in Brussels this year on a contract and I really like it, but as people have said, it's not really a place jam-packed with amazing tourist ideas. There's the city centre (Grand Place) with plenty of restaurants, bars, chocolate shops, Belgian frites and waffles etc

When family and friends come to visit I usually take them to see the sites one day and then let them grab a train to Antwerp, Brugges, Ghent (all really close)etc on the other days. The trains here are really cheap (and some half-price at weekends) so perfect for visiting nearby cities. I'm doing Amsterdam in few weeks then Germany is next on my list.
