Brennan Johnson

There is a video comparing Son's heatmap last season vs. Solanke's, basically Son sits on the edge of the full box, Solanke sits in the 6 yard box, that's what Johnson was aiming for (wrong player)

Johnson always seems more effective as a sub .. against tired players or ?

Tired players but also IMO it’s more that he is being told what to do more before hand
Just a guess
And son was wrong, not Johnson for me

There's a training clip doing the rounds (It's probably posted already somewhere) where it shows Mason shouting don't even look, just take a touch then ping it across the 6 yard box. It's interesting because we all assumed the wingers weren't looking up but it seems that's Anges instruction. Sonny and the left winger should know where it's going and be in there already.

Edit: Although we don't know if that clip is still 100% valid. Maybe Sonny prefers it cut back and that's where he was expecting it etc.

Brennan johnson said the same. If you take time to look up it gives the defense time to get into position. It's the job of the other players to get into the area you are putting the ball into. That is what they work on in training. Put it into an area.

Dunno if right or wrong. But that's the instruction.

Agreed, and I like this approach; it is a horrible area for the defence to sort out, because the keeper can't get there and the defenders are turning to face their own goal and trying to avoid the own goal.

Some players have the knack of making things happen when they come on as substitutes. It's not just being able to take advantage of tired legs -- it's also following the manager's instructions, but equally it can be reading the game from the bench well enough to figure out what you have to do.

Starting vs Turkiye now
Meh, pretty average display. Tried hard. Turkish keeper largely untroubled.
Galatasaray striker with blonde hair is a dingdonghead, got himself sent off.
Rodon and Davies defended him well, Welsh keeper largely untroubled.
