Black Lives Matter

This week has seen a huge rise in arguments in sports about the messaging.

NFL players saying their are being ignored in recruitment due to their support of Colin K

Hamilton being investigated because of his shirt

Cricket having a row about changing their approach

Maybe time to accept we need real change in sport rather than symbolism
 
Excellent statement by them, and good to see them make the point which I was going to - the media noise about them not doing the knee doesn't seem to be coming with the best heart.

"Those media that have been quick to question us should be looking more inwardly. Our Under 18s were forced to abandon a game in August 2019 against AD Nervion FC due to racist abuse.
More than 12 months on, Uefa refused to deal with the situation and the Spanish FA did nothing. What media coverage has been given to that? Not nearly as much as what has been granted to QPR not taking a knee. Don't judge us. Simple research and evidence will show you we are doing more than most. If you want change, judge yourselves."

He says it exactly how I feel about it, when we stopped clapping did it mean we care less about the NHS workers, it did not.

Time for actual change not this symbolism that does not make racists out of non racists for non participation and vice versa for those that do.

The real story here -besides the pathetic verdict- is how the Kentucky AG has essentially been used and brainwashed by McConnell before being deployed as some sort of "credibility" weapon to try and gaslight people into believing that bursting into the home of people sleeping, unmarked, and shooting them shortly after they wake up terrified that there's a break in is NOT murder. New levels of disgust. Dangerous times in the US.

Shooting and hitting stray bullets at private property is considered more of a crime than shooting and murdering an unarmed, sleeping black woman. GHod Bless America.

I agree that the verdict seems really harsh, however I've read that they can't charge for murder because the no-knock raid was legal.

It was signed off by the courts and the police were fired upon first. There's some technicality in Kentucky that states if law enforcement are fired upon they are exempt from charges. Something along those lines.

Never mind that the raid was unannounced and the victims (legal gun owners) thought they were being robbed.
 
Just to add; if murder charges aren't ever arrived at, at the very least I hope it brings about law change. I think that's the bare minimum that needs to happen.

That level of baked-in protection for law enforecemnt seems like a total tinkle take. Also the nonchalant assigning of no-knock warrants definitely needs looking at, so dangerous in that gun-toting hell hole.

Stone me the gun laws in the US needs sorting as much as anything else, wowzers

The police were "fired upon first" because Taylor and her BF thought it was a home invasion, thus self-defence. It was the wrong fudging place!!!!! And using the AG they chose in the way they did is such an obvious, insidious tactic a la McConnell. At this point I expect someone here to bang on about "letter of the law" - not you- but the law has clearly been stretched and manipulated beyond comprehension and intent.

The gun laws are facilitators.
 
Caught up with Louis Theroux new shows over the weekend.

Was interesting that he went over his old documentaries and the one about crime in America and Milwaukee was interesting. Spike in gun crime around 2015 to 2016 and then the famous riots where Sylville Smith was killed and was the original poster boy moment for BLM.

Def worth a watch and Smiths brothers comments are worth a listen based on what we have discussed on here for a while now

 
I think the entertainment media are responsible for a lots of the problems as in many of their leading crime dramas portray black people as villians, this apart from sport is the only insight to black people many of the population get. I know it's a very simplistic argument but you only have to look at how easily opinions are manipulated on social media to see how this happens.

You could 100% well be right so I wont knock that POV however I think there is alot of media stereotyping based on society.

The US networks have forever been packed with Irish Italian Gangsteresq Mob stereotypes for example.

The Irish and Italian mobster types are usually glamourised with strong family values whereas blacks and latinos seem more amoral and feckless in film and tv. The USA is a very violent nation and has been since 17th century and many of their cultural heroes have been violent lawless men, if you keep telling kids they are stupid they usually end up stupid.
