He didn't say it, a journalist did, Burkinshaw just nodded in agreement,

As is, but being of the age where I remember it being headlined and directly attributed to Burkinshaw at the time, I can tell you that most people absolutely believed he said it. If memory serves it was actually the day after the game! Further, he has been directly asked about the quote in interviews since, and never confirmed or denied it. The bottom line is, he was absolutely onboard with the sentiment whether he muttered it or Ken Jones set it up and he agreed.

See that’s why I checked it out because it was very out of character
I love to see how things become urban folklore but aren’t true
One if my favourites is the film Casablanca and the line “Play it again Sam”…. Which isnt in the film

Thing is it was not out of character at all for Burky at that time. The paper ran the headline the next day or day after (can't remember exactly when, they attributed it to Burky, years later it was claimed the journo said it, I have never seen Burky categoricaly deny it and as such, it has entered some sort of twilite zone. The truth is out there somewhere, but it is absolutely clear that Burky thought the same; he left! This was of course only a couple of years into the Scholar era, and I think Burky saw signs he did not like...

Just an awful article. What on earth does this mean?
Few will worry too much about a manager snapping at a journalist but what is more significant is what it reveals about Postecoglou’s mindset – particularly if he is reacting in a similar way to players. Being sarcastic, punitive, attacking and unfriendly, the Alisons tell us, is characteristic of Bad T-Rex with secondary Mouse. In fact, Postecoglou ticks almost all the Bad T-Rex boxes. He’s become irritable, distrustful and resentful which is Bad Mouse with some T-Rex. And he’s always been dogmatic and demanding, represented by Bad Lion with some T-Rex.

What then has changed? Why has the Good T-Rex of 18 months ago gone bad today? “It’s the way of the world,” as Blackadder explains to Baldrick in the BBC series. “The abused always kick downwards. I am annoyed so I kick the cat. The cat pounces on the mouse … and finally the mouse bites you on the behind.” Postecoglou is under pressure, his skin perhaps not as thick as it initially seemed, and this current irascible incarnation is what happens when flaws and foibles are exposed by the Premier League machine.

We've got a dinosaur in charge? But not dinosaur in age...dinosaur in that he's sarcastic and punitive?

I'm sure these psycologist do some good work...but this is just an absolute load of brick.

Terrible article...tried to frame it around some intellectual psycho babble to justify a complete 180 degree character change in our manager.

Ange has always been grumpy post bad defeats, specifically when he hasn't liked what he's seen. As he feels it reflects on all the work he does during the week.

He's been complimentary of the team in defeat before when he feels the opposite.

His pre game pressers are always pretty much the same, cordial, light hearted and serious when need be.

Yes, there's more face/head rubbing and that comes with dealing with constant body punches. He's probably feeling quite Chumbawamba at the moment :).

He's probably itching to get back to some normality squad wise to see (for himself) if he's on the right track BUT also is wise enough to know that he has to navigate what is in front of him right now. And imo mentally he's doing a good job with that.
