ARS are depleted after a punishing game against Spurs. Saliba is out, so their wonderful centre back pairing is broken apart. Timber is playing CB because they don't have enough depth in their squad, with Partey playing right back!
How have ARS let it come to this? What a poor piece of squad building that is, after all these years. It means the hapless Merino gets another chance to prove his doubters wrong.

AST are struggling, only 25% possession, then the full back at the back post is asleep as Martinelli darts in front of him to score, with the hapless Martinez falling back into his own net. Useless effort, can hardly get out of their own half here. I thought Unai Emery was a tactical genius? They are being dominated and can hardly get out of their box. Now Onana goes down with an injury so they have to switch this accomplished midfielder with some 21 year old defender nobody has heard of. What a poor squad Villa have. A couple of injuries and they are down to square pegs in round holes. Terrible really.

Your posts are doing a good job of foreshadowing ARSEnal and Liverpool goals today, hopefully you can use your Midas touch on Tottenham tomorrow!

Kept hearing last season how we needed more games.
We did need more games but not traded off against injuries.

To implement a new system you need games
That’s logical, and something even the most skeptical fan can surely see. Ange also needed the games to see who could and couldn’t okay his football. Off the back of that we leg a huge amount of players go

This squad we have had had a 1/3 more games than most of our peers and combined with the injury issues it’s caused us a lot of issues.

That’s football and why we need more players for the amount of games. That’s poor planning IMO

I dunno if this allowed, but couldn’t we hire out a big park during the week and get all the players to come in and practice stuff to implement a new system.

Yup. That was the argument last season and then this season it's been that we've had too many games so no time to train. .

I'm not even Ange out but the amount of excuses that keep being made are amusing. It's proper Spin City.
I’m not making excuses, I’m just giving people facts where they exist to allow them to create their own opinion with more information
We do live in a world where people don’t do the checks anymore and it’s why people manipulate things

This is hilarious. Because ARS missed 2 late chances, Wrighty Ian Wrighty Wright and Tim Conker Sherwood are discussing how depleted the ARS squad is.
The Villa goal came from the right back position that Thomas Partey was trying to fill, but he's not a right back, so there is no surprise that a goal came from that area, you can't play players out of position.
ARS desperately need to sign 15 strikers and 19 defenders this week or they are doomed.

I can guarantee if the late chance had gone in rather than hitting the post, the brains trust in the studio (Wrighty and Conker) would be saying what a MARVELLOUS display it was, how the ARS battled through adversity and showed just what a class outfit they are and how they will take it to Liverpool.

It's almost as though whatever the outcome of a match, the pundits just bend to that narrative. Who would have thought it?

Surely not
Don’t Villa have as many pakyers missing as Arsenal

Felt like the system was implemented pretty well during the first 10 games of last season... before Postecoglou decided to go full kamikAngeball against Chavski which resulted in a load of injuries and we've not looked close to that level (barring an occasional big win) ever since.

Hopefully he'll lead us to a cup this season but I suspect his style of football is ultimately no more sustainable than Bielsa's.

The injuries were before the 9 men in that game
VDV off, Romero red was all first half wasn’t it when we had control
But that’s also manager getting to know his players and squad

also played 2/3 of the amount of games
We took away their star striker and top scorer from last season. His record signing replacement is injured. That's a lot of goals to find. Yet they have. They might have played fewer games but player for player they have a weaker squad of players than us. So it should balance out.

I'm afraid it appears that injuries and extra games are becoming a go to excuse for our poor form.

Well in a week we will have both and Ange can't afford not to be picking up points despite them otherwise we will be in big trouble in the League.

Read something this week which said something like:

“We’re smashing it!…well, there was always going to be a wobble…he’s getting to know the players…we need more games…we finished 5th, so wait until next season!…you can’t look at the table until 10 games have been played…we’re only 2 points off top four…we’re just outside top 6…we’re still top 10 despite the injuries…we’ve got too many games…we’re still above United…West Ham are still behind us…we’re still 8 points above the relegation zone…”

Made me chuckle. :)

They have assembled a very good squad
Perfect for the way they play and it works
Some of their pakyers will for for big money in the summer we will got for semenyo IMO

And on spurs If fans don’t wanna accept injuries cause issues the that’s their choice. I see it as an issue because it’s been focussed on parts of the team we gambled on (defence) or had lots of players but lost all the options (winger)

But as I say, everyone’s entitled to their own choices

Maybe the poor form is because we played teams who were better than us in that period.

We have just played and lost to
1. Pool
2. Arsenal
3. Forest
4. Saudi Sportswashing Machine
5. Chelsea
6. Bournemouth
Drew with
9. Fulham
17. Wolves
Beat
20.
Southampton

CBs I grant you but wingers? Odobert hadn't played enough games to assess his impact, most fans don't rate Werner. We still have 3 decent quality FBs. You may not rate either Johnson or Son on the wings but they are still available and have been throughout the season.

They are the only ones who have been available
That’s the issue
Son is brick IMO. Even when well rested because he has poor control and can’t beat a man
Johnson is son on right but with better goal return and also does the thing son doesn’t… attack the post
Neither should be starting together as they are way way too similar but we haven’t had options
At one point we gad Werner injured but in the bench. Moore with the plague. Odebert abs Richy holding hands in hospital. Madness bug typical

Weirdly, where we have rotated the most, midfield, we haven’t had the injury issues … who would have thought it. Although Anges favoured DM has missed games because of bracing charge and 2 concussions now

We sold or let go 13 players who played for Ange last season .. thirteen. Some were filler of course

We brought in 4 plus Yang and now the keeper.

That’s negligence IMO

You say we have 3 FBs, but we actually have 4. One though we are happy to let leave

We have 3 Cbs and a full back who can play there and do well (Davies). That again is a gamble that has massively backfired. That I get because of who we have on loan.

Not getting in a left footed defender is just stupid. It’s how Arsenal targeted us midweek.

So IMO we don’t have the squad fans think. We have been massively hindered by losing certain players and it’s meant we have had to flog to death some of the better ones that have remained (Porro, Solanke and Kulu for sure, plus some will argue son. Johnson hasn’t missed a game since November 23 I believe…. Not one game)
