As much as I appreciate Ange winning us a trophy and I will always remember and be grateful for that night, I don’t see how he could have repeated that feat next season, well not repeat it and still have us qualify for Europe.

I think most will agree that we would not be in a position with the type of football we have been playing to win the CL, so no route there.

A domestic cup maybe, but at what cost to our league position, and if this season is any indication of how focused we had to be to win a trophy then there is a very good chance that we would not be in a position in the league to qualify for Europe the following season.

For me that is enough of a reason to give someone else a chance.

But if he was made aware by people qualified to do so that he is killing the players and he ignored then his employment being terminated is even easier to get behind.

Unfortunately, we'll never get the answer to that question. For all we know, the medical team could be trying to cover their asses or selling their ability to the next man in charge, who must be wary of our record in that particular area. Everyone has an agenda and that's why we'll never know the truth for sure.

He did make adjustments, we played very differently in the latter half of the season compared to the first half.

It’s an odd demand that fans have, a an anger who must play a variety of ways without wanting to give the manager the time and stability to develop those styles.
A football friend of mine (not a spurs fan) thought we had been working in the low block tactics for some time behind the scenes because, in his words, we executed it better than any team he had seen in a long while
My only concern with that if true was, if that was a coaching for a period of time, you would expect a potential impact on yoir normal game. But we hadn’t played Ange ball IMO since December so…. Who knows

The medical team don't create the injuries, so they don't need to cover their a***. Postecoglu himself in public interviews has said that injuries are part and parcel of how he trains and plays and said the players will adapt with time. So I 100% believe the press leaks that the sports science and medical departments were told by him that the players had to "endure to adapt". It's a claim that is consistent with Ange's public statements about his philosophy. It's not something we will ever get confirmation of, but the press leaks over the last day or two are pretty believable. In particular, the leak that players were played against medical advice is fairly obvious when both Romero and VDV were played against Chelsea and both were out subsequently for a lot longer.....

I've got an open mind, and will back any manager initially. Yup, it's done now. I don't think Frank is the man and think he will be chewed up and spat out like others have been. But goes without saying will have my support. Might aswell just enjoy the positive stage of the cycle, where most posters are saying what a great exciting appointment this will be, followed by the honeymoon stage with the comments of 'How great it is to finally have a team playing (insert type of football here) compared to (insert previous manager here).'

Then fast forward 12 months and will come to realisation he's not actually the messiah, and then the familiar execution cycle can familiarise itself all over again....

To be honest this is just the cycle most clubs go through. Dynasty managers are rare and becoming rarer. "projects" are driven by sporting directors for the most part. Clubs like Real Madrid, Chelsea and Barcelona drive success by constantly refreshing the coaching staff. Arsenal on the other hand are probably a case study in where greater loyalties to managers have allowed things to go stale and allowed them to fall from the perennial title challengers that they were. That's not to say loyalty can't pay, but loyalty must be bought by persistent signs of improvement and success.

Absolute bollox, what a fudging melt. If avoiding relegation was our main target, we would have prioritised that, so no, not 100%.

Amnesia is forgetting the once in a lifetime European trophy and parade down the high street.

In years to come, people will talk about that trophy, and the fact we came 17th and Ange got sacked will be a footnote, not the other way around.

Yeah I mean obviously messiah was an exaggeration. So what actually is the plan? After all these years I'm confused as to what it is. We are never winning the league without spending big, we can hoover plenty of young talents but will always be superseded by the teams who actually buy the top players for now.

So what is it? Frank is ok if he gets us top 6 or something this season, then season 2 has to qualify for CL otherwise we start again? This club still doesn't really have an identity for me....
