Well said mate. On Lange, I don't see how he survives if Paratici is poised to come in, unless he agrees to essentially be a subordinate. And to be fair, the appointment always felt like a bit of a stopgap, since nothing Lange has done in football yet, seemed to qualify him for a job as big as ours.

My guess is, he was the guy the club hired to keep us going while Paratici served out his ban. Like with Venkatesham's arrival likely meaning Munn is out, if Paratici arrives, my guess is Lange is out unless he agrees to be a sidekick.

And the thing is, I don't doubt that this will also be on the mind of Thomas Frank, or whomever Lange suggests as the replacement. If you're only coming in because of the strength of the recommendation of a fairly anonymous and somewhat low-profile sporting director like Lange, at a club like Tottenham...you aren't very safe when the big personalities like Paratici swing through the door with their own ideas and vision.

Agreed, and he essentially has (apparently) said that. The whole thing is now going to be a mess. We committed to a structure two years ago, and now we're blowing it up. I personally agree with you re: Lange and don't understand how he can actually survive as essentially a lackey (albeit let's be fair, we don't know what his role will be)...

The Athletic article indicates as much. Club apparently made a decision in April that they were going to let him go. But Ange winning the cup forced a delay while Levy reassessed, and ultimately stuck to his original call.

I have not read that.
I think it's been obvious for a long time, so this adds to the 'not surprised'...albeit the 'reassessed' could simply be 'timing'...

Because 11th (as an outlier) is the worst result the club has had in 21 years, the inability to prioritize the cup (right thing to do) and at least match the worse result in 21 years is a fudging problem mate, it can't just be dismissed.

I don't, said it way back, the only scenario that kept Ange in his role past that Nov-Jan period was if Munn stuck out his neck for him, and a huge part of it would have been, we will turn it around (somewhat, with players returning from injury, with squad additions in Jan).

We all get really passionate about the club, but fortunately/unfortunately I've worked for much bigger organizations than Spurs for 30+ years, and this was all predicable

- Ange stayed on past mid-season meant the job risk now went to him and Munn
- No statement about Ange continuing in Chairman's statement, meant he was gone

Munn will go, new roles will be appointed, new manager will probably be announced by Monday ..

Errrr...I think we're saying the same thing? That he was always going?

No-one stuck their neck out too far. Maybe quietly Munn did, but he was left aloine in the wind to take the punches. That debate is for another day (or never)...

I'm seldom happy to see a manager go, their failure is also our failure.
It's no different with ange, I'm not happy to see him go but I understand the logic behind it.
I do believe that as a club he has left us in a better place than when he joined us.

I thank him for our EL trophy, a couple nights I will never forget, for memories and moments that will always be special to me.
Wherever he goes I wish him well.

It was a tough decision, who next is an even tougher one.

Well, Paratici basically served as a lackey/underling to Marotta at Sampdoria and then Juve - in fact, it was in this role that he did some of his best work, with Marotta overseeing his excellent eye for talent, and restraining some of his more hot-headed ideas.

Depends on if Lange wants to work that way with Paratici, but there is precedent. I agree it seems difficult for him though, especially given he was already a 'full' (if fairly raw) sporting director - not sure he'd like the demotion.

How are we blowing the structure up?? Replacing personnel is not blowing a structure up.

Thomas frank has had a lot of criticism in this thread but I think he’s the best realistic man to take us forward now the sacking has happebed

I think he’s a great tactical manager who will get a lot out of our squad. He’s not a big name, granted, but mourinho and conte are and that didn’t pan out well

Depends on the replacement. Can guarantee there will be none if it's Frank or Silva. There was none for Nuno, and he probably did a better job at Wolves than either of those two. It will come across as scraping a bottom-of-the barrel rando to lead us, and that never goes down well. Truth be told, it would have happened to Ange too, had that insane start not bought him some time.

If it's a big name, then there may be some patience. If it's Poch (big if), then we have a shot at a sustained period of patience.

As others have said - as long as we play better and win. Frank or Silva are more rounded coaches. We needed a change too many things were off. Not contesting throw ins for example. Too many basics were missing. Most other coaches have a focus on the details and the very best are obsessed with them.

On reflection, I feel quite down in the dumps about Ange leaving.

That Aussie fudger has put us all through the ringer this season, one week I loved him, the next three I was fudging livid with him.

However, being in that stadium in Bilbao will live long in my heart. 🥹

I wish him every success for the future. He gave us fans some glory and I will be forever thankful.

Good Luck Ange.

The fantasy football WA group I’m in has fans of other clubs laughing at us “As soon as they find a guy who can finally win a trophy and stop the sexy jibes and them being a laughing stock, they sack him and become a laughing stock again”
Anything other than winning the EL and we'd be a laughing stock.
The difference between one place off relegation and trophy Vs one place off relegation and no trophy is a pretty slim difference

The

Today's piece by Jack Pitt-Brooke in the Athletic lays that out.

Club felt his playing style was responsible for some of the injuries.

Opposition managers also felt his tactics were easy to play through apparently, with one quoted (off the record) as saying we had a clear identity and attacked well, but we're 'easy to kill' when the full backs both went up because we left masses of space behind them.

I disagree, but it's hard to do so when you have literal opposition managers going on record (even if anonymously) to say that.

We all saw that.

No need to downcry it mate, it was an achievement many others had failed at before.

Ultimately the league results and the fact that the cup result was a direct result of abandoning both the league and the philosophy of play we were using in the league, is the reason he was let go.
Is gonads as the form from the end of the season before and from all of this season shows.

He was a chancer and the only ones that fell for it were fanatics.

Europa league is a nothing competition now.

lol…. The best we’d done prior to the ‘C list’ competition (as you put it) under these owners was a D list competition…. Once!
Accept that competition is not what it was even 5 years ago, why ypu supporters of Ange can not acknowledge that Europa league has been massively devalued is crazy.

Think you guys are so desperate for a messiah your over looking his obvious flaws, like Trump supporters. I can see a wrong un a mile off, it's why I hate Trump and Ange. Both fatties as well.

And winning the Europa league is the joint best result the club has had in 41 years.

I suspect you weren’t there in Bilbao so perhaps don’t understand the absolute joy of actually winning a trophy?
