Andros Townsend

I find it amazing in these instances, surely the guy has got to be leaving, so it'd benefit the buyer and the seller to do away with the the time frame pressure flimflam and just find the agreement to get the move sorted out for the second the transfer window opens.

He clearly needs a fresh start and loaning him out doesn't benefit us, it's just a bit of a waste of time him being here. Clearly Onomah has been showing more in training and earning minutes on the pitch.

I don't dislike Townsend, I'd like to see him doing well, but it just doesn't look like it will be with us. How this brick doesn't get figured out beforehand is beyond me

Totally with you. You'd think everyone had realised by now you're allowed to talk to other clubs outside the window. Barca managed to get 77 players registered on the first day. The window itself needs to be shortened.

Levy: Berahino is a liability and his contract is running out, Townsend is a prolific England international. You can have him for Saido and £5m.

unless he hasn't been sold, in which case lengthen it until he is!!!!!

Loaning him out and him performing well could get ramp up a bit of mid table interest and raise his value in the summer tbf

(Though the opposite is just as likely I guess...)

Numbers are inconsequential really, within reason of course - a player surplus to requirements out and a player management want in, 10m or thereabouts is reasonable

The wage differential could cost us an extra £3m a season too

I'm not sure why that would be an issue if those in charge think we're strengthening - the wage bill should have fallen down a fair bit over the last couple of seasons as our older pros have been replaced with younger players and the squad size trimmed down.

Not that Berahino would be getting 3m a year more than Townsend anyway (that's an extra 60k p/w on top of ATs wages)

You think that Berahino would get £58k a week more than Townsend? That would make him our highest earner.

Townsend as an academy graduate on his first senior contract will be on low wages. Berahino would be the 2nd/3rd most expensive signings in history, so would expect a hefty wack to match.

Townsend was bumped up when he was getting in the England team - so that would have been at least his second pro contract and probably around the 20/25/30 mark i would guess.

This was posted on the previous page, can't remember which paper: Allardyce believes the pace of Townsend will add a new dimension to his side. Townsend, whose contract at Spurs is not due to end until 2018, will significantly increase his current £40,000-a-week salary by moving to the Stadium of Light.

Wow 40k for his first senior contract - that's some agent Andros has got...
