Was gonna comment on this as I couldn't believe what you've said but I think the comments just above mine say it all.

I was just thinking longer term.

Now I have confidence we'll get CL this season, could push for the title in 2 or 3, and will sign players who will benefit the club long term.

Redknapp would have blown the CL funds on wages for Joe Cole, Rio Ferdinand and Phil Neville and in 2 years time we'd be mid-table with average squad age well over 30.

That's the scenario where short-term pain is worth it.

The bloke has a real chip on his shoulder about Spurs. I know he provokes arguments to get people to ring up, but tonight I lasted 3 minutes before I turned the f#cker off.
Credit to Goughie he was trying his best to defend AVB against him, but Durham was in anti-Spurs overdrive. I wont rise to his bait and so it was Galaxy FM for tonights drive home

That's just Durham being Durham. You should hear what he says about Arsenal and Stoke!!!

The only club he seems to genuinely like is Emirates Marketing Project, go figure a team that coincidentally everybody in the country hates bar their supporters and Liverpool fans!

Short term pain and yet their scummy players and fans will ALWAYS be able to say they are Champions League winners!

So would you be happy to see Arsenal win the league at the lane again if it meant we could get arguably a better manager? Seen as how the pain would only be short term!

I'm open-minded about it.

AVB was phenomenal at Porto; yet a disaster at Chelsea. So, he's kinda in the middle in terms of 'reputation'.

Had no problem at all with Harry, and I'd happily have seen him continue. Harry delivered a record of: 4th, 5th, 4th, so AVB will have to do better than that to - in my eyes - justify the change, otherwise we're going backwards.

Happy to support him though; he'll need it. But make no mistake about it: Daniel Levy has now raised my expectations and I expect AVB to deliver better than the 4th place which Harry Redknapp twice delivered.

The pressure is on, Andre.

I asked a question on here a while ago which the responses were lost amongst the turmoil the board has gone through BUT what is AVBs expectation in terms of success to fully justify the change from Harry? im talking more along next season and lets just say next season?

Some will argue that the competition is fiercer but what I would say is that in terms of net spend (and wages as we all know you love wages Sheikh) we didnt have much of a right to be fourth last season

4/5th for me and I'll be very happy. Harry was a crank and I wanted him out so anyone but him who can match his results is bob on.

Happy with 4th/5th. Content with 6th. 7th would depend on how the team were looking. Any lower and i would not be happy..

Why do people still listen to this cretin? Dumb and Dumber!!

i know it looks to be impossible, but if AVB could manage to persuade Modric to stay then that would seriously impress the rest of the squad and media imo

100% agree. What a feather in his cap, if Modric agrees to another season. AVB tried to sign him at Chelsea, so uou just never know.
A few early signings to show intent, along with Bale committing might just persuade Luka to give it one more year.....I can dream, its not improbable

Because his a professional WUM and takes a contrarian view to get listeners and calls.

Our squad is significantly better than Arsenal's and probably still edges Chelsea's. Now we've got a top manager I expect use to be clear in 3rd next season, not too far adrift of United in 2nd.

Don't care about the clubs involved. Just positions. Liverpool have underachieved.

Were much better than them! And we still have a better squad than Saudi Sportswashing Machine, therefore finishing below either of those teams represents a failure in my eyes.

I expect us to make some decent signings and make a real push for top 3/4

Our squad? Not sure how you can claim that really. Especially with our lack of striking options currently.

Sometimes the chat is reasoned and I can listen to it personally. But as soon as, in my opinion, it isnt, I reach for the off button...like tonight

Gough is departed. Literally. Sounds like he's been hit on the head too many times with a Cricket ball!!
