American politics

I found it startling and ridiculous TBH. What a fu king circus we have right now!
She is being funded by AIPAC money and is very much dancing to their tune, no matter how ridiculous it all looks from the outside. It just shows she would have been another Sinema/Manchin type, another bought-and-paid-for politician, and so this was a bullet dodged by the Dems. El Sayed is a great candidate, and so hopefully this plays out as a win/win tomorrow (polls say an El Sayed win). Stevens will be forgotten about before this time next week either way. Her political career is over, aside from the occasional guest appearance on Fox News.

The sheer levels of flimflam and chicanery are dizzying and exhausting. I wanted to ask you BTW, do you find the timing of Murphy's stroke to be odd? Am I guilty of wearing the tinfoil beanie here???

I love a good conspiracy theory as much as the next guy (probably more, actually) but this is just one of those things. From what I read they got it very early, his arm going numb, which is always good when it comes to strokes. Murphy is one of the better senators on the blue side. Clear-eyed and a bit of a fighter. Worst case, they can wheel him out 'McConnell' style for the important votes.
Kidding aside, I think he'll be up and running again soon.

Thoroughly enjoyed Jon Stewart’s take on Stevens’ AIPAC antics 😆

Right, now let’s see if the Dems have grown the balls to govern effectively ie. not just winning the argument but actually putting effective policies in place. That means more than just putting a stop to the MAGA agenda of weirdness and cruelty, and having a strategy to turn this country around and work for the majority again.

Please, please, please show us some cajones!

That was good news waking up to. Hopefully the US can start functioning like a proper and responsible country again, or at least a bit better than today.
Much better news and it does begin to restore a modicum of faith in Americans. It is far, far from over though. Too much money and potentially freedom at stake to not fight for the Orange brick Gibbon.

His last, no doubt, inept throw of the dice will be to deflect blame and cull the present team. He'll throw a few under the bus, the likely candidates, those who have attracted the most negative heat. He needs new advisors. An impossible job, but they'd have to shackle his ability to ad-lib. Old Teflon Trump will hope deflection will bury many of his recent failings. He then just has to fight the almost obvious corruption by his family and cronies, paedo allegations/Epstein and find a way to resolve a few global disasters of his making the price of guns, alcohol and fuel come down. I don't fancy his chances.

Today is a better day than yesterday....lets allow that to wash over us.

(Yes, then indeed, someone, just anyone, get to work)

He's got a lot on his plate 🤣

Hopefully we get 2 years of the madness calming down. Then no doubt there will be another nutjob US Republican president in 2 years to cause chaos.

I'll never understand Latinos voting Trump. That's like idiot brown people voting Reform thinking Reform likes us cos they have an idiot in Zia preaching for them.

It all comes down to, who his opposiiton is and if they can make centric policy. If they choose an old fella with dementia, a black drag queen or someone with an 'Arab' sounding name who runs a Florida flight school, then you'd hope that they realise wider America isn't ready for that. America needs squeaky clean, strong, intelligent leadership. Whatever America does, America's enemies are at the moment one step ahead.
