American politics

It didn’t take an eagle eye to notice the “Blacks for Trump” signs just over Donald Trump’s left shoulder at his Tuesday rally in Sanford, Florida. The middle-aged white woman enthusiastically waving hers was particularly memorable. But the man next to her, a fringe political figure in South Florida who goes by Michael the Black Man, is the real star here.

A former member of the murderous Yahweh ben Yahweh cult, Michael has found himself with front-row seats to several recent Trump events in South Florida, always waving his “Blacks for Trump” sign and wearing a shirt that says “Trump & Republicans Are Not Racist.” At Tuesday’s rally in Sanford, Trump took notice. “I love the signs behind me. Blacks for Trump. I like those signs. Blacks for Trump. You watch. You watch. Those signs are great,” he said.

I've recently escaped from a board where you could label posts like this as "informative". I wish I could do the same here.

Don't know where you get that from, Sanders is a cult figure on the left but little more and single payer will never happen in the US, too many americans see it as "socialist" and too expensive.

There was polling on it, I'd have to google it (polling re. both Sanders and single payer).

Again from wiki: "Single-payer" describes the mechanism by which healthcare is paid for by a single public authority

I point out the Canadian version of single-payer healthcare as that is the most likely path the USA could follow, as they contract their healthcare services from private doctors/hospitals, they don't own it all like we have with the NHS.

The important bit:

Healthcare in Canada is delivered through a publicly funded healthcare system, which is mostly free at the point of use and has most services provided by private entities.[8] ... The government does not participate in day-to-day care or collect any information about an individual's health, which remains confidential between a person and his or her physician.... Medicare systems are cost-effective partly because of their administrative simplicity. In each province, each doctor handles the insurance claim against the provincial insurer. There is no need for the person who accesses healthcare to be involved in billing and reclaim. Private insurance represents a minimal part of the overall system.
