ACN - Ade goes but Benny stays

Tim Sherwood
Results today mean we've got a left back for January, but no #9.

Might it force Danny to come up with a nice signing early in the window?

He could play Defoe?

It's scraping the barrell a bit. We'd also be relying on him getting no injuries/suspensions during that month too. I suppose we've not seen Dempsey tried in the loan role yet.

I'd much rather we got a second specialist #9 on board asap, and Togo's win today make it even more essential IMO.

You trying to get rid of him already?

are the 5 league games he'll be missing

Sadly I think we won't buy another striker, even though we will need one. AVB will probably say we have Dempsey who can play up front as cover for Defoe.

I don't think we'll sign a big name player.

But I hope we'll have a new DoF who'll find us a 20yo next Higuain or Falcao and bring him over direct from South America for £3m.

Even if he comes back at the earliest after being knocked out in the groups?

No - but you've got to expect the worst.

Defoe has shown he can get goals when played up front this season so im not overly eager to go out and buy a replacement for Adebayor for when he is away, as that would not be fair to Defoe -

get in someone to cover for JD

Forgive me for asking the obvious question, but what if Defoe gets injured?

Defoe has shown he can score goals against weak opponents away - so he may be useful for the QPR game.

He's also shown he is fairly impotent against good defences and at home.

He's also shown how he completely nullifies our #10 (Dempsey/Sig) and limits the effectiveness of our wide players.

personally id be confident lining up with him in the side in 4 of those 5 games.

and as Jord mentions above, we have got ourselves in to a good position so far with only Defoe to choose from in attack, would be poor of us to overlook him for when Adebayor is away. AVB will get the best out of him
