2025/26 pre-season

Destiny Udogie, Kota Takai and Manor Solomon will remain at Hotspur Way for treatment,
In the grand scheme of things it could be good news that Udogie is out of the tour. It enables the coaches to fully assess what life is like when Udogie is injured, as that will happen at points during the season.

I.e. Davies or VdV as lanky centre back style full backs who stay home.
Or Gray / Donley / whatever.

The kind of managerial masterstroke that would see you shipped off to look after the national team of freedom and liberty whilst presumably getting done in by Panama or Honduras. Good job none of that ever happened right?

On LB cover, I'm happy enough with a LCB filling in there especially with Spence and Porro on the other side who love to get forward.

For the second year in a row, I was very lucky to be invited to a chat with Daniel Levy, Donna Cullen and this time Vinai Venkatesham.

I put to Daniel what I've said on here for the last few months: what is important to Spurs? Finishing 5th or winning trophies? Why give Ange the chance to win a trophy only to sack him when he did it? At what point are Spurs going to stick with something and see it through? He gave the answers you'd expect -- similar to many on here -- but I was glad to be able to put them to the man himself.

I also asked about Gibbs-White. Got an "off the record" answer but seems like this one was completely out of Spurs' hands.

I had a nice chat with Vinai at the end. He seems like a different type of leader. Can absolutely see why Arsenal fans were fond of him. It's something super small and likely sounds dumb when reading a post like this...but where DL and DC walked in and shook everyone's hand, Vinai looked you in the eye, said "hi, I'm Vinai" and held on long enough to ask your name back. Super small...probably unimportant...but that 10 seconds made a big impression on me.

Nice. Out of interest what were the actual answers to the bits i highlighted in bold?
It's fair you didn't give details about the MGW attempt answers.

He said “17th is unacceptable for Tottenham Hotspur.”

I asked him: if Ange was sacked for the league form, why wasn’t sacked in February? He said: they wanted to do the “full process” of hiring. They were wary of having a negative affect on the squad. And they thought it would be difficult to get someone in mid season. To which I said “so he was gone regardless of the Cup win?” Levy said, no…but they didn’t want to make a decision on emotion. So nothing new, and as I say, what many people said on here.

I would have like to put it to him that each of those points (full process, negative affect, difficult mid season) have never stopped him for the 13 other managers he sacked…but didn’t need to push it. Donna Cullen made a very, very weird point that in the same period that we’ve had those 13 managers, Chelsea have had 16 and Real Madrid 18 (who knows it that’s true but it sounds right.) Again, I would have liked to have pushed back and said……..is that the company you want to keep?? But right time and place etc.
