2022 World Cup... gonna ruin the European Season

16(!) league games before mid November, plus a host of cup and European games! There will be lots of injuries and knackered players, come the latter part of the season!

Hate to think about it but it could be a lot worse, once again the welfare of the players isn't factored in at all.

League resumes on fudging Boxing day? that's mental.

That will be skys doing, they can't not have all those games missing from their schedule over the festive season.
Two months with no football, think what that would do to their ad revenue.

That’s only 1 week earlier than normal. Are there any international breaks in that period? If not I guess that’s 4 potential games weeks back if not 6.

Don't forget the six-seven extra games for the players in the best four teams in the WC. You could easily see the likes of Kane and Lloris being in that group. A couple of good cup runs and you'd be looking at 38 PL games, maybe 15-18 cup games total (Europe included), plus 6-8 international games, plus the world cup.

That's a possible 70+ games in 296 days. One game every four days for the best part of a year. It's completely senseless.

Not that I'd expect any one player to play every possible game, but you're begging for injuries with a schedule as hazardous as this.

So rough calendar up to the start. Even an international week! There are 3 midweeks to play 2 rounds of prem in to play the 16. Then you have two other spare midweeks on August when only 1 team will be qualifying for the UECL.
Surprised they didn't start another week earlier.

EDIT missed a midweek at the end of August so 4 weeks to pick from.

My calculation is that is 15 weekends, so would only need one midweek set of fixtures if the international windows were dropped.

However, the tournament is scheduled for 21 November – 18 December, which doesn't leave much opportunity for warm up games. So that probably means that there will be some international games squeezed in. The injuries and knackered players may occur earlier than the end of the season.

Always thought with some clever transfers and loans it offers the chance to really go at the title.

Hopefully someone like Parrott spends the first half of that season on loan in the championship then comes back to us for boxing day.

Targeting players who are not playing international football or have retired from it would be good.

Wonder if we will have friendly games when the world Cup is on for the players left behind.

Commentator - "if this pitch was a Sunday afternoon in England you'd struggle to keep the game on".
fudge off mate, this is the reason most Sunday players get out of bed! It's looks great - the kind of pitch that needs three showers afterwards. Heaven.

We're at the QF stage already, 21 & 22 Dec.

If Conor Washington was anything near a striker Northern Ireland win that game.

I was there tonight. Brilliant defensive display by Northern Ireland, in a match in which we had the best three or four chances. We badly need a striker. Fantastic game, didn't see a draw coming with the European Champions, slightly disappointed that we didn't win. Young Ali McCann (Preston) was superb in midfield and we have a couple of United, Liverpool and Forest cubs (Galbraith, Bradley and Taylor) on the bench. Who knows, from out of our recent gloom, there could be brighter times ahead. Fingers crossed.
