    Kevin Danso

I thought Van Hecke was fine defensively yesterday, and Danso wouldn’t have prevented either of their goals.

    Omar Marmoush

I thought it was a really good debut too. Hope he’s been bought primarily as a LM though. Partly based on his skillset, and partly so Tel’a not first choice there.

***OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Saudi Sportswashing Machine, Saturday August 29th, 5.30pm, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium***

Hard to judge us going forward when we’re missing Solanke, Sávio, Kudus, Kulusevski, Maddison. And at least we’ve looked pretty solid at the back. Overall I thought it was a decent performance in the circumstances.

Presumably Kulu must be very close to being back based on that? Like on the bench in less than a month?

    Lucas Bergvall

To me it's clear that Bergvall is an 8. That's where he played under Ange, and he was great. De Zerbi has also said this preseason that that's where Bergvall wants to play, and he agrees. Unfortunately last season he was barely played there, if at all. For me that's on the manager(s) and the...

    Richarlison

I know he scores some goals, but my GHod watching him play makes me eyes bleed.

    Archie Gray

De Zerbi confirmed in press conference that he doesn’t want another right back, and that whilst Gray prefers midfield he can play there. I’m just hoping Porro stays fit so he doesn’t have to do it too often. Don’t think he has the pace for it.

    Savinho

To be fair fans are individual people, not one homogenous group. I’d imagine it’s mostly different fans complaining about different things.

    Savinho

I think our net spend will be a fair bit higher this if we land Marmoush too, even with some remaining outgoings.

    Djed Spence

Gutting, but can’t blame him for wanting a move. Good luck Djed.

    Mathys Tel

Yeah that’s fair. Was just pointing out that the original stats for last season were potentially misleading for that season. Agree that season isn’t a fair reflection of his potential though, either way.

    Mathys Tel

Strange to show those stats per 100 touches. I guess maybe it’s trying to control for different teams having different amounts of possession. But it might also disproportionately benefit players whose style is just not to get on the ball much, which might actually be a downside. Either way, if...

    Lucas Bergvall

I didn’t watch the Getafe game, but from this compilation of his good moments he still looks to me like he has so much quality/potential. Really hope De Zerbi convinces him to stay.

To be fair you could choose not to read the preseason thread :D

Poor old Gray always getting shunted around.

Yeah I’m saying why are you so focused on making a profit on players this year? If we sold Solanke now we’d have the benefit of getting that £35m off the books for future years too.

    Transfer thread

Why does it only matter about turning a profit on him this year? We’d also remove the remaining £35m of his amortisation for the coming years.

    Savinho

    fudging hell, sign him up!
  19. E

    Lucas Bergvall

As someone who struggles to warm to him, for me it’s none of those - I think there’s something about his footballing aesthetic/style that’s off putting. The opposite of elegance. If he turns out to be a good player for us though I’m sure I’ll manage to overcome that!

    Luca Williams-Barnett

Wow, looks seriously talented. What position has he played primarily, CM?
