Hopefully we have a few cards left to play with incomings to fill the backup RB and LW spots.

But he’s not a #9. He’s best as a striker similar to Marmoush who is a significant upgrade. I’d argue Tel offers more as striker (not a winger) than Richy.

One thing I can say with absolute confidence is our supporters at the game getting on his back will NOT make him a better player.

I thought Van Hecke was much better today. Marmoush showed what a striker with good movement can add and Tonali had some excellent moments. But it is still a work in progress for sure.

I’m going early… …he will be our new Modric.

I doubt Kudus will get more than 10-15 mins.

We were very slow out of the blocks but the last 15-20 mins were much better. More cohesion in the front 3 and we’ll be fine.

It was a half of two halves. The first was poor but good to see we didn’t wilt and improved as the game went on. Bentancur makes such a difference but I’d like to see Fernandes play a little deeper and spray passes around.

    5-3-2 with Gray at RCB?

Why play a system that doesn’t fit the squad in their current state of availability is my point. We don’t have to wait long for Madders or Kulu (🤞) to be available for that role. Till then, let’s not force a player unsuited to the #10 role into the team for the sake of it, but play a more...

Exactly. Round pegs in round holes. Switch Tonali for Bergvall and you have an excellent midfield three allowing each of them the freedom to do what they do best. Bergvall, Gallagher and Gray as backups.

    Transfer thread

IF he did come back, you would need a runner in the #10 role (Bellingham, Rogers) instead of a creator (Xavi, Maddison etc) allowing Kane to drop deep. Not sure Kane is suited to a high press anymore, neither are we without dominant aerial CBs to win long balls from the opposition.

I know you were being facetious but since we have several players capable of playing the 8/10 role in Tonali, Fernandes, Bergvall and Gallagher, why can’t we play a 4-3-3 using Bentancur as the dedicated #6 with two of the above either side? No need to play a system designed around a #10 if we...

Having Deki @ 10 and Solanke at CF will give us some real physicality up top.

Savio and Odobert are our Ndiaye-style tricky wingers. Kudus is also excellent in this regard., and Tel is coming on in leaps and bounds with beating his man. We need height, strength and an eye for goal.

    Richarlison

Not sure Odobert makes the pre-Jan squad either. Doubt he’ll be match-fit till after Xmas

The PL squad gets set after the window closes so injuries wouldn’t make a difference till Jan when you exchange a few squad places.

    Mikey Moore

Odobert won’t be challenging for a squad place again till after Xmas, maybe a little later. If we don’t sign another winger, Moore would be 4th or 5th choice after Kudus, Savio and Marmoush (who may end up at CF if we sell Richy) and competing with Tel for those minutes. One serious injury and...

Bentancur is still the most reliable defensive option we have in the middle of the park. He's become a terrier of a player but also capable of playing accurate, one-touch passes in close quarters to move the ball effectively and maintain possession. He can take some of the load off of Fernandes...
