Yes, of course. Water accidents go hand in hand with heatwaves, unfortunately. (This is worth a read on spotting drowning) I guess UK housing stock and indeed public infrastructure is not designed for those levels of heat. Active cooling will be required, but there are a few easy tricks...

The inappropriate pictures of frolicking in the sun are unfortunately endemic with these articles. Pictures of drought or patients on hospital trollies would be a better choice. How many died in the UK in this heatwave?

One other reason, and in my opinion, the most important reason, is that extreme wealth concentrated in the hands of a few creates its own set of societal problems. Wealth buys power and distorts democracy, usually to the benefit of the person who has that wealth. That in itself creates a...

The proposals for the wealth tax I have seen floated around hit only abut 20,000 people in the UK. The ones at the very top.

I agree with that. You gotta sell your own accomplishments, since UK media will give you little credit. I wasn't a fan of Starmer for lots of reasons. His position on Gaza and the draconian crackdown on protesters was unforgivable in my eyes, but he was far better than what went before.

One could argue that Starmers tenure played very much into Reform's hands. His courting of the right-wing vote, which frankly he was never going to win, effectively vindicated Reform's extreme position on immigration. This was a tactical mistake IMO, and one which Labour voters rightly saw as a...

Exactly this. Inequality levels are far worse than in the Gilded Age. That is where we are now, and unless that is seen to be addressed, people will either disengage or turn to the likes of reform/restore and the promises of their snake oil salesmen.
