    How many games has Spence played poorly in this year, including those (aka nearly all) when he has been played out of position? He’s an excellent one-on-one defender. He is strong, fast and skillful in possession. What is there not to like about him? Again, this isn’t a Porro vs Spence...

    I’m not making a this-vs-that statement. I’m saying that I think Spence is absolutely good enough to be our starting RB should Porro leave (he only has two years left on his contract so he’ll either sign a new one or be sold).

    It proves that a proven manager of a top-international team feels confident in playing him at the WC. That in itself tells me that he is very capable of performing for a PL club with CL ambitions. Spence is absolutely talented enough to be our starting RB if Porro were to leave.

    Maybe nine months to be back playing but it'll take longer for him to get up to full match-speed and fitness where he can play 90 minutes. Plus, I expect anyone coming back from such a long layoff will have a lot of niggly muscle injuries...look at Rodri for instance. I wouldn't expect much...

    I never suggested we should go for Baleba, nor do I think we should. I was merely pointing out his strengths and weaknesses. He is not what we need, lost his place in the team last season and will demand a transfer fee which I don't believe correlates with his talent.
